No Seniority At Easy Jet

I just read through the Easy Jet recruitment web site and found a statment that they have no "old-fashioned seniority system".

Could anyone enlighten me on what that means for copilots/upgradings?

I think seniority is a good idea for airlines, but then, maybe I'm just old-fashioned......

Joining them soon, asked them this question at the interview with a view on how long it would be to command, their reply was:

"When you get 3000 (factored) hrs you are assessed for command in your OPC/LPC and if successful, put in the pool for command for the next available slot. At the moment the wait in the pool is not too long as they need Captains."

"They don't need a seniority list as they only have one type, so cross fleet movements and promotions are not factors"

Alpine Flyer , you think seniority is a good idea (I neither agree or disagree with you).

easyJet does not have seniority. Therefore easyJet is not for you , so why bother making this posting?

Sorry, just wanted to know what "no seniority" actually means. I was also a bit put off by the "old-fashioned".

In which order are pilots pulled from the upgrading pool?

How is rostering resolved?

It's not that I'm interested in joining EasyJet, I'd just like to know how they resolve things without seniority.

A second type could come up in the future....

Hmmm. Brakes to Park...

Just cos Alpine Flyer states that he thinks seniority is a godd thing does not make him (or eJ) unsuitable for each other.

A perfectly reasonable question was asked and you gave a daft answer. Perhaps you could remove the orange blinkers for a second and take your head out of the sand......

Oh and before you say it....eJ are not a choice that I would make. Suitable or not. Remember, it is the pilot who selects the airline before they select the pilot.......and there are more attractive ones around than eJ.IMHO.

Good evening.

F/O's getting upgraded don't sit in a pool. As soon as they pass the assessment they get the next available date which is usually within 3 months. Its not a problem because there are upgrade courses every month and there will be for years to come because of the massive expansion.

Gypsy could you email me with some information on the recruitment process at easyJet. I have read the web site and checked the Archives, looking for something original.

Email : [email protected]

cheers.

Tailscrape, who rattled your cage?
Try not to be so aggressive.....
Brakes to park certainly does not have "orange blinkers "

tailscrape 8th June 2001 23:53

No-one rattled my cage and I wasn't being aggressive.

I just get hacked off with some people who may or may not work for eJ getting clever with statements like " eJ is not the airline for you " or whatever just because a fella asks a question about seniority lists.

eJ are a good firm with good ideas, but I can't help but feel that some people in there are seriously sucked in to the orange mentality. Good if you want to be , but don't shove it down my throat. It's boring and I've heard it before.

So, if the eJ pilot who I replied to would make a sensible replie to Alpine Flyer then I wouldn't have written my (non) aggressive piece in the first place.

I still maintain that eJ are probably not the best employers in the world no matter what anyone says (naturally it is all personal opinion - because it is impossible to broad brush judge), but then again I am sure my employers aren't either.

I just do not like smart alec replies to sensible posts. Far too much of that goes on in here.
