How Many Crews per Jet ?

what is the crew / aircraft ratio in your company, be it short haul or long haul, pax or freight ?
Is 5 to 1 for a shorthaul short sector operation adequate ?

about 4.5 to 1 almost works at bmi

Worldwide Longhaul freight on 744F: 10 A/C - 300 pilots

Roadtrip 20th February 2001 12:05

About 6 to 6.5 per airplane.

CargoOne 20th February 2001 13:24

5.0-5.5 to 1 for acft in regular shorthaul pax service, 3 to 1 for cargo acft on nighttime express parcel services.

We use 6 crews per aircraft. They were using 5.2/AC and that was not enough. Utilization is about 14.4 hours/day at B6

that's quite a split with only 5 replies !
BMI at 4.5 to 1 to Roadtrip's mob with 6 to 6.5 to 1. That's almost 50% more ! Do you get 50% more work out of the jets ?
