Britannia Recruiting Boeing drivers?
Does any one know when will Britannia start recruiting Boeing drivers again? I hope they will soon increase their expansion plan before the Summer holiday. Its a great company except the new paints.
They are not recruiting at the moment. They already have 16 people who were laid off after Sept 11th and I would have thought they would be re offered their contracts.I was one of them!
All matters involving recruiting (and even, God forbid, redundancies ) will not be decided until a firm trend is shown for 2002 bookings. The worst case could be a reduction in total aircraft numbers and pilots. The best case will be keeping aircraft numbers at present levels and fulfilling job applications to those pilots who are on the 'waiting list'. There are some retiring pilots this year but not a vast number - that could take up some slack in the system for those currently in the Britannia queue.

Constant Speed DU - if you were laid off by Britannia why are you at the ATP academy doing an Airline Qualification Course ?
I think Cougar are having one of the B757`s this summer and require plenty of crew to fly them as all of their crews are B727. STN base more than likely.......
Britannia to date has not laid any pilots off,as I understand it some people about to join were not taken on ,I believe these may have been given some payment as small recompense. In addition some pilots serving their notice period and going to BA found they were unable to retract their notices and suddenly found the future much less attractive. The market turned very quickly this time!!.
did that actually happen stampe? I thought BA honoured all job offers.
front seat - v interesting! |
I imagine that unless you have quite a bit of time and IN PARTICULAR 757 time, then the STN mob will not be interested at all.
Just guessing, but I don't think they will be offering any training. They will want the crews able to hit the aircraft up and running. Again, I am just guessing.... |
That shouldn't be a problem for them tailscrape with all our guys facing the chop.. .:-(
So how many Brit 757 pilots are currently under threat of redundancy officially?
regards. .wizzy |
None and it is widely expected we will be quite tight for crews this summer. This thread has wandered somewhat. The next few years will see many retirements and demograpically the company has a high age profile so inevitably some will fall short of retirement. To me the future looks positive and without getting carried away the company has the best management team in place for many years.
As they are getting rid of 1 B757, a B763, and have transferred the 2 UK 738's to Scandinavia, I would have thought it will be quite a while before they are looking to fill flight deck positions.
Out of interest, how many crew would typically be needed at Brits for the operation of one (757)aircraft? As they cancelled two conversion courses =16 pilots.
Thanks. MAX <img src="cool.gif" border="0"> |
For a Summer season they used to work on 6 sets of crews per unit.
Stampe. .Thanks for the good news! its a great company to work for.
Regarding an earlier post BA did in fact honour all DEP contracts. There are 31 pilots in this situation. 24 are doing bits and bobs whilst waiting for a course and the others have been seconded to EOG/BACE. I don't know the cadet situation.
