Question for BE drivers
Hi folks,
As a humble wannabe, I was hoping some BE drivers would be willing to shed some light on the company. I am hoping to apply to the sponsorship currently being advertised, but am concerned about paying 32k given the current industry climate. My main question is therefore: how financially secure is BE? Any help appreciated JT8 |
anyone?!?!?!????

Use to work at JEA now rebranded BE. From my past knowledge they are financially secure for at least the next couple of years due to a Trustee set up to back the management. Ok to work for as a first job but look very carefully at their bonding methods though I believe Cadets bonding is different.
Great crews and I believe some of the "dross" at EXT had been disposed of. At the minute it is probably as good as you will get but my personal advice would be wait until BA decide to sponsor again, without doubt the best cadet scheme going!! On second thought, if you can, wait go raise the cash in another job until the times get better as there are going to be a lot of very experienced crews competing for jobs. Hope that helps and isn't too pessimistic. Rgds BB |
JT8,
I've seen your posts on the Wannabes forum in the 2 BE threads there: Are British European Serious ? British European Sponsorship in FI Read what is being said carefully, and in my view, stay well away from this rip-off. There is no guarantee of a job and it is a stupefyingly expensive way of training. On a brighter note, BE are relatively secure financially. |
Thanks for the replies. As most wannabes applying to this scheme, I am very concerned about the financial input and the bonding issue if a job is not offerred straight after finishing your course. I've been following the threads in the wannabe forums closely, and have taken onboard all points raised. I will apply, but think VERY hard before signing away my 32k and 6 years of my life!
Obviously, its attractive because it may be my only chance to get a job flying within 2 years. I do not expect other airlines to start sponsoring for some time, and this includes BA :( . A real shame because I felt pretty confident about my chances with them  . Oh well...!!!!! happens! thanks again for the replies, JT8 [ 20 October 2001: Message edited by: JT8 ] |
JT8,
I think you will find the £32K you speak of is nowhere near the true cost of taking this route, doubling it will bring you closer!! I do wish so many wouldn't fall for this kind of marketing. |
