Hi... just curious...How many people are type rated in the hold pool either on the 320 or other aircraft and how many are fresh out of training?
|
for those of you in the pool - BMI have been desperate to find any pilots who will take any unpaid leave over first few months of 2008, so looks like there will not be any recruitment for sometime to come.........
|
Merry Christmas Everyone and a Happy New year for us all!
|
Big,
I think you will find thats old news, more have resigned and the intergration has used more crews than expected causing all hands at the pumps therfore there is just enough at the minute with a few working their notice. Keep up dear boy! Regards Keepitlit |
Merry Xmas to the pool......
All the very best to every fellow fish in 2008! :ok: { Any excuse to keep us on the first page of terms and endear/rumours! ;) } |
Latest rumour I have heard is that 2 suitable 330s have been sourced, in time for summer 2008. Longhaul aircraft are crewed at about 10.5 crews per aircraft, so that should get things moving again. Of course, it is only a rumour...
Remember though, keep those IRs current! (LASORs reference on page 2 of this thread) |
Would be great if that was true but don't want to get too excited. Can anyone confirm this or has anyone heard the same?
|
And how many standbys do you have and whats your duty hours!
regards Keepitlit |
I have loads of home standbys!!:ugh:

Virgin holding pool
I understand that there is a significant number of ex-BMED pilots in the Virgin holding pool.
5 have left since the integration another 5 are working their notice & a long term mainline Captain left recently. That said they still complain that they are overcrewed (despite desperately buying days off this month). Come the summer I'm sure we will be short of crew as usual.:ok: |
I spy with my little eye something begining with H.............

don't know which crewroom you're in but there are plenty of chaps been given their part time options - not exactly " all hands to the pumps" - old chap......... |
When offered a part time position (which they applied for) would indicate it was planned for to happen in the winter period.
There was a lot of wish/hopefuls who applied for part time and when it came to the crunch they didnt/couldnt take up the offer, only a couple took it in the end, not really much to do with crewing issues. As for 2 sector days thats rostering/crewing, of which I get very few of! Heard they still buying loads of days! Oh and im in the right crew room as they are getting their monies worth out of me! Regards Keepitlit Oh and less of the old I still have S**t loads of years before I see the light at the end of the tunnel dear boy!:E |
Thanks for all the inside info/views. Anyone heard anything more on the A330's sourced for the summer 08 season? I assume the A321 is still scheduled for May creating a possible intake?? Fingers crossed things will work out for us sooner rather than later, I'm just about hanging in there!
|
Nothing firm on the A330's I'm afraid, still just a rumour. A good rumour nontheless in so much that the airframes are correct engine type (RR) and the cabin is the correct fit. Watching and waiting...........................as always for the facts:hmm:

Interim aircraft option?
Regarding the possibility of adding the 757/767;
Quote: http://www.atwonline.com/news/other....12%2F24%2F2007 Bmi is looking for additional capacity, possibly 757s or 767-200s, to support growth on several former BMED routes, Chairman Michael Bishop told ATWOnline at the recent Star Alliance meeting in Beijing. "We are looking for interim aircraft to improve the competitive element of our operation to certain destinations, which I can't disclose at the moment. But I can say that three of the routes that we inherited [from former British Airways franchise operator BMED] look to us as if they are capable of almost immediate development and expansion into bigger aircraft," he said. He added that bmi wants to introduce nonstop services on these three routes, prompting the need for "aircraft with longer legs." The former BMED routes currently are operated with A321s. Bmi also is planning new routes for its mid-haul network "that will take us further distances away," according to Bishop. "Those will either come into the A330s at some stage in the future or in the immediate future we may be looking for some kind of interim lift to satisfy the demand." Bmi has five additional A330s on order with the first new aircraft expected to be delivered early next year (ATWOnline, July 11). The interim lift could be provided by either a 757 or a 767-200 despite the fact that bmi's mainline operation is streamlined around an all-Airbus fleet. "Well, you have to adapt to change," Bishop conceded. "We're looking for something in the middle there [between A321s and A330s] to give us more range and more capacity. Besides, we [bmibaby] operate 737s." Any thoughts? |
Crews and aircraft borrowed, such as the 767 which has been used for years on some charters

Just poping us back on the front page:ok:

Regional Holding Pool
Anyone heard if there is any likely movement on the Bmi Regional Holding Pool to be expected soon. I gather the extra aircraft are no longer happening so I guess it is just a matter of waiting for people to either leave or move up.
|
bmi mainline
Has anybody seen the link on the website to apply for Pilot..... What does that mean for us in the pool? Something or prob nothing.
