BA Connect bonds

Does anyone have any info on Bacon training bonds, do they still exist now we work for Flybe?

Cheers.

Yes they do. The bond was a part of your employment contract and has been carried over to Flybe. Already tried to get out of it that way myself. :(

Are you guys in BALPA?? If not, join, most gusy got rid of their bonds :ok: Just negotiate....

flyhigh2fly 12th April 2007 15:29

I sent an email to BALPA and they said I had to pay up!
I believe you can get your Tax back from the amount you pay and in some occasions you can pay your bond back on a monthly basis interest free.

I too tried getting out of my bond. I was told by BALPA that we had to pay. We have the flexibility to negotiate the repayment plan e.g £500 per month, but it MUST be repaid ..... comments please?!

depends on where or who you want to work for in the future. this question of bond repayments has been around for ages i suggest you look at some of the previous answers given and you may well be enlightened and better off.
you might be better off contacting another union for help and advice it might be cheaper than you think.
there is always more than one solution to this problem all you have to do is choose the right one for you.
if i were the recruiting manager looking for rated pilots i would take them on if it meant a low cost training solution and tough sh1t to the crappy company they left, i get a cheap pilot.
in other words if the companies were soooo good to work for and the job soooo fantastic then there would be no need for bonding would there.
learn from my mistakes and my advice for anyone joining ANY company is dont sign ANY form of bonding contract as we are only one step from doing it for nothing and that is not professional at all is it!
finally what i would like to say is -walk away- dont pay- dont sign again.
go back to line 1.

Look guys, did you pay for your type rating training when you got taken on by BACX/BA CON? I suspect not. So, what is wrong with BA Connect/flybe asking for their money back if you leave before your bond period is up? Would you have joined them in the first place if they were like easy/ryanair? I suspect not.
Cough up. It's a very small world in aviation.
MB
PS: I coughed up so you should do likewise! :ugh:

ah monkeyboy, but the problem is this, some people actually DID pay for their rating through reduced payscales. To then pay off a bond as well is something you will try very hard indeed to avoid.

WHAT A JOKE !
I know first hand about this with Brit Regional. Had never signed a bond and consulted BALPA, they were feckin useless, in the end they advised me to pay. Even their legal department could not advise.
Tread carefully fellows..
