Lufthansa

Hi all.

I somehow stumbled into an interview with the German DLR for basically a psych eval, which from what I understand is phase I of the interview process with LH. I applied online late last year and just got everything in the mail today. I currently fly CRJs in the US, have a US and an EU-member passport, but no JAA certificates. What is the chance of me actually being selected? I thought the JAA papers were a must. Does Lufthansa sponsor people for that? Any info about that as well as the interview would be appreciated. Thanks.

They might let you fly on validation for one year. Only thing you need to do is take an air law exam and something else. Not very hard.

good luck:ok:

The first stage doesn't include an interview.
You will do some paper pencil tests, some ATP question just basics nothing serious, there will be a math test and a Englisch test (that won't cause you any trouble). Followed by several computer based test to check your Monitoring and Instrument Coordination. Check out www.hh.dlr.de under Download you might find some training software. Don' t know your german abilitys but the test is in German!!!!!
If you suceed the first round you will be invited to a Sim screening, i think it is currently hold on a B737 sim.
If you suceed here you will be invited to a 2 day assesment center. Group plays, role games and a final interview. After that you will get a direct answer if you have passed or not.
Good Luck

One of the little things I like about germans is that they beat around the bush, but forget to mention the 'real things'.
What Cityliner didn't say is that in Germany there are several companies offering preparation courses for the DLR test (ATTC, ToPilots, SundPTraining). If you don't take part in such a course your chances of landing a job will be virtually zero because all the other guys prepare themselves in that way, setting the pass mark to a high level. This applies to both stages. If you get through, it's one of the best flying jobs worldwide.

Life shouldn't be harder than absolutely necessary.;)

If u are thinking flying for LH its sad bad forget it.LH has its own training academy in Bohn (actually its like an army camp) .To join the LH academy u must have a german high school diploma(abitur) and then to take the 3 year course in academy,Still u have no job insurance with LH.After graduating the academy LH puts u on a waiting list and depending on its needs, calls the appropriate number.Of course i have 2 mention that depending on your performance in the academy u have a seniority number after graduation is not a lottary!!!.I dont know if there is some kind of Bond and for how long after the graduation ( i guess that depends on the payment arragement ),in case someone finds a job apart from LH.(dont laugh cause are people who have benn on the SBY list for over 3-4 years and the first duties were on an ATR42 and the same time some other resigned after a year an found jobs as FOs within the european market).
