Whats the latest in on you busy flight schedule this spring. The Sun Country crews enjoyed the few flights we had in the fall!

Did all of the PH- birds go back to Holland?

Indeed all PH-birds went back to NL. But that was not enough as various acft where leased in from SAA, Spice Jet and KLM.
With Transavia.com expanding in France you guys might have a chance of flying on F-birds as well in the future??!!

Transavia's new operation from Paris will be all french, just the knowhow from up north will be put to good use. As for flying there, what do you think? After all, it'll be a french company...:ugh:

We still have not heard if SCA pilots will be flying out of AMS this summer. MGT would like to have a few crews there for the summer and a few TA crews here for Caribbean flights next winter. I'm sure a few of your pilots might find St. Thomas , San Juan or 20 of our other distinations attractive.

Just wondering, what kind of net salaries do you get paid at Transavia ? 1/ for First Officers 2/ Captains
How do you work pay schemes out, i.e. minimum pay/number of hours per month/seasonal variations.

check PPJN for exact figures, keep in mind that Dutch taxes are very high (everything you earn over €~42000, you pay 52% tax!, very good social security system in return though)
monthly salary is a fixed amount (does not depend on hours flown) Summer very busy, winter very calm, especially for FO's (next flight on my scedule is in 10 days!, in between only stby and "available" )Captains tend to be more busy year-round.
Furhermore a holliday allowance (8% of year salary), profit share (var.% of year salary) and end-of-the year bonus.
Last but not least: a good atmosphere.

Here's a copy of what PPJN shows:
Capt top Euro 13000 29/Dec/04
Capt base Euro 6000 29/Dec/04
FO top Euro 6500 29/Dec/04
FO base 3300-3900 euro depending on hours experience
Does that mean you would get about 6500 euros "take home" for a top CPT, 3000 take home for CPT base and 3200 take home for a FO Top ?

thats more or less the case. Mind you that over the amount of € you earn under 42000 you pay 25-33-42% tax (different scales) so FO who earns 3300 takes home ~2250. Capt. max. brut. ~€163.000; variable depending on profit-share.
Another thing is study debt. This is deductable from your tax in Holland. So a new FO with study debt takes home his brut. salary. Furthermore, Transavia pays TR.

You would think it is hardly worth coming to work for .... No disrespect but 2250 EURO take home for an FO!??!!?!? Plumber makes more than that in Holland and that's not even including his 'after hours jobbie pay'.....

It always used to be the case the crews didn't fly too much, but didn't get paid much either. Seemed like a fair deal. Over the last years, though, it appears workload is on the increase, but pay didn't keep up...
Still a lot of guys are simply happy to be based in NL, even if they make less than they wold be if they would live abroad. It's simply a matter of what lifestyle you choose.

The numbers are quite market-conform (for 737 ops.) But it is the taxman who does all the killing!!! :ouch:

Sun Country Birds roosting in AMS soon
 
Looks like Transavia is getting 2 of our birds for the summer starting the last week in April to about Oct 1st. If any of the Transavia pilots get to MSP I'll be sure to take care of you with sites and transportation. I only ask that you return the favor when I make it to AMS.

Sun Country is taking a new plane in June so we have a net loss of one and a few of us are taking the summer easy at our lake homes or out golfing.

If you thinking of joining Transavia then make sure you like Green!!! The scarf is a bit too much for me though! :}

They seem to be a happy company though - certainly at RTM at least. Their crews are always smiling and laughing as they bumble in and out of their crew room!

Is the hiring process not in a similar fashion to KLMs? i.e. from a specific flight school i.e. NLS, EPST etc or ex Dutch forces? Plus you need to speak Dutch fluently?

I would happily move to the Netherlands like a shot and would be keen to join the company as a Captain in later years, however I doubt it would happen.

Nope, they hire everyone with experience and a JAA lic. I don't think you'll join them as a captain though!

No Not true, he just could get a far better deal with EZ than staying with HV and having no prospect of being CEO.
But you can keep him, the HV pilots are very glad he left I heared.

Direct entry captain is never gonna happen. Time to command at the moment is hard to say, but at least 8 years if not more atm.

Also no hiring atm. As long as the KLM group has to many pilots its safe to say that no one will be hired from outside.
