bmi regional roster and hours
 

Hi can anyone tell me what the standard bmi regional roster is, ie 4 on 2 off?

And how many hours a year do the crew fly?

Standard pattern is 5 on 2 off, but expect a degree of variation from 3/1 to 6/3 inorder to have your days off on different days. In theory you should have one sat/sun weekend off per month. Hours depend on your base - 600 to 750 would seem to be the norm.

Come on , be honest. Whatever AIMs throws out is what you get. A lifestyle agreement has just crept in guaranteeing 3 off after 6 on. The agreement will only work if enough pilots join with more a/c due next 6 months. Blocks of sby will also be rostered where you have scope for a good shafting otherwise you should be OK. It is a good company which apart from a few core routes is keeper of the Royal Stool to BMI, eventually it will be surplus to requirement.

What is Royal Stool and why will it be surplus?

The a/c are only allowed into LHR to permit a more useful/profitable role for an airbus. If the mainline company is ever successful in it's core business the EMB's will go back north or be sold if there are no suitable niche routes which fit the Regional business model.

To your original point Regional uses the AIMS system to roster but does not run particular paterns as you describe. Sometimes you get 1 on 1 off other times 6 on 3 off, generally single days off are to be avoided. You can expect weekends are most likely going to be in a hotel on the Bath Road all next summer as mainline have taken on an extensive charter program to pay the bills accumulated operating in LHR fog last week whilst everybody thought the airport had closed and the CEO didn't see fit to advise the media otherwise.

I just had my first rostered weekend off in 6 months (apart from the weekends associated with annual leave). Don't expect too many weekends as the AIMS rule giving 1 in 4 weekends off is a "soft" rule.
As stated, expect to spend a lot of time looking out the hotel room window at the Bath Road. 4 in a row of 11 hour plus, (the late dual Hannover) can be a little tiring, but that should be a fairly scarce thing if the Crew Council ever manage to corner the crewing manager!
That's the downside. The upside is I've flown with some great people, gone to some interesting places, with the prospect of an even more interesting year ahead. If you can cope with the workload of MAN-LHR you can cope with anything, our company engineering support is pretty good and if you opt for LHR posting, management seem to forget you exist!

Anyway, it all makes sense now!

Latest news is, management are dragging out the implementation date of the lifestyle agreement even further. Mid-February allegedly... :ugh:

Hi, can anyone tell me what the base policy is at bmi reg.?
Apparently new guys start at Aberdeen, but how long do they stay there and roughly how long does it take to get the base of your choice?

LHR- I assume that this base is available for a short term during the summer only and then only for a few pilots?

Any info would be great, many thanks
