Where can I get a command 737 job?
 

Hi,
Well I am stuck in the same rut....

Been an F/O on 737 3-800's for the past five years. Every one else seems to be going gang busters, but not the crew I work for. :(

Crunching the numbers, its going to be another 5 years before I get a look at a command.

I've got 11000 hours up now, and I can take time off without pay for a while.

So where do I go? I've got a command rating on 737 300 to 800's Who will give me a left hand seat?

Driver 242 - Try Ryanair.

Don't believe everything you read here. Pilots are joining in droves and turnover is minimal.

Fastest time to command in the industry (6-12 months) so it sounds like it would suit your purposes.

I'm an Australian, on an Australian passport.
Australian parents and grand parents, so I don't think I have EU work rights.......

Australian ATPL, US ATP.

Any other Airlines I should look at?

With that amount of jet time, you would have to be a shoe-in with Jetstar, Ozjet, Alliance or the the new Qantas Freight operation. Slightly further out is Air Pacific always looking for experienced drivers. India, Japan etc - c'mon the papers have been full of ads for 737 jocks. You live in Australia, so you already know that.
Or have you set some limitations, like only want to live in Sydney and fly 3 days a week, never on weekends, no overnights?

ryanair are sponsoring (work permits) for suitably qualified pilots. get in contact with them. join as F/O and do command process in 6-12 months!

You would be eligible for the DEC scheme with Ryanair....

Don't you need a JAR ATPL for Ryan Air ??????

Unless something happens to the company, and I don't think it will,
I'll be flying 73's till my command slot comes up.....In about 10 years.

I know I have a good job, But the grass is always greener.
The question is how long do you wait?
I am asking myself if I would be better giving up on this mob, and starting
with another company.

The reason that I am looking is crunching the numbers, I will have worked for this company for about 17 years before my number comes up for a command. It is that slow!!!!

Do I stick it out - life is good here
or do I look else where. That is what I am asking myself.

Driver 242 stay in Oz. You've got a good job, good life style and the grass is greener than other places you may get command. In fact take a closer look, most of them don't even have grass. Unless you pick up a very big pay pack to make it worth while you will wish you stayed. There's no place like Oz! :ok:
