Eastern Airways - Simulator Assessment
 
Hi All,
Please can anybody give me the "heads up" on Eastern Airways Simulator Assessment?
I know it is conducted by Mike Briggs of Triple A, at Humberside (and you have to pay for it yourself :{ ) but any info. beyond that would be greatly appreciated.

just like having your initial IR test i was told about 4 months ago. eastern is ok to work for... pays the mortagage, gets you the hours quickly so you can move on to something bigger and better!

eastern is a place where you either start or finish your career.

What about experienced crews with T/P experience.

Flying Multicrew is a bit different than flying Single pilot MEP multi ?

Isn't the above process for low hour bods ???

You are on Terms and endearment but here is some info you may wish to seriously consider.

Best advise for eastern is try really hard to find another job first. they are so clueless about pilot recruitment that he reckons pilots should do a stint as Cabin Crew or in Ops before being identified as a "good chap" worthy of the RHS.

additionally, I gather he makes people pay for the FNPT2 Sim during the job interview! Ha ha this is eastern airways for the RHS of a J41 on the worst T+C's....come on.

good luck guys and girls... by all means go for eastern but know what your getting into. Taking this job could cost you big £ in the long term!

PS with regards to getting hours and moving on quick... these days 90% of turbo prop guys have to pay for a Jet rating (crazy I know). So...why not cut out the middle man eastern and go Jet from the out set?

The stint as Cabin Crew is used very infrequently for pilots with no recognisable referees or track record. Where most employers would otherwise turn candidates away, Eastern offer the recipients a ‘foot in the door’. The individuals also constitute an effective Holding Pool WITH a salary. The facility also allows pilots to have a close look at Eastern before they commit to a Bond. They have a 100% success rate when they have employed this facility.

Regarding their recruitment process, they have recently taken on experienced pilots (Captains) from Flybe, BMI, Netjets, Jet 2 and Monarch.

Globalwarning if only everybody was so all knowing as you. if we require any advise from you it won't be regarding getting that first job. Perhaps you can put a good word in with all the jet operators for all the people I know who are struggling to even get acknowledged let alone jobs.
Is the reason behind you encouraging folk to steer clear of EA is because the Jetsream is a pilots aeroplane and still takes a little bit of flying?
I'd hate to think you weren't up to the job

Firstly Globalwarning is speaking our of his ar5e.

Now with that comment said here is what Eastern is really like. It is not the best start to your career but it is by no means the worst. If you join now you will be going onto the J41 or the Saab 2000, both of which are at the high performance spectrum of the turboprop scale. Both have EFIS flightdecks and the Saab is by far the most modern and quickest of the two types.

I flew the J41 and I enjoyed my time flying it. Good experience, good training and reasonably good SOPs as well. I went to around 30 different airports in UK and Europe in 2 years which provided a good dose of variety. Crews are very friendly and good fun to fly with.

The J41 gives you a good grounding for your next type. The reasonably modern flight deck means that the next jump is not as big as coming from less advanced turboprops!

Nothing wrong with that if someone has no experience at all, I would have done that if I was going to be paid to do it, after all it might get rid of the us and them mentality that some folk have ;)

After all many BA cadets went as cabin crew after passing out as cadets when there were no pilot jobs.
