Lo-co concessionary travel
 
Just a quick one,

Does anyone know about the staff travel benefits for flight crew with any of the lo co airlines? Take EasyJet for example, are crew entitled to ID90's (or Zed fares as they are now called) with other airlines? Also does staff travel really exist, seeing as some carriers are offering 1p sectors (plus tax) to regular punters? :hmm:

ID90?? Staff travel??? With easyJet??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Keep on dreaminī mate!

But to answer your question:

ID90 : NO, not possible! :(

Staff travel : very limited availability and sometimes expen$ive. You canīt really rely on staff travel if you want to commute. You will find that the outbound flight might cost you as little as ₤5,- but the return might set you back a whopping ₤150,- Then a few days later you meet the crew that operated this return flight and they tell you that there were plenty of seats left! Typical of how easyJet seems to operate... The new CEO has made it one of his top priorities, so hopefully things will change for the better soon! :suspect:

Easy staff travel is a very sore point with staff. Have just booked flights with easy as a normal passenger and it was Ģ7.00 cheaper than booking through staff travel for the same flights. On top of this, normal customers get better protection and are entitled to compensation if the flight is cancelled etc, something you are not entitled to if you book through staff travel. When queried with the powers that be, was told that they were having a special promotion, so I guess the real promotion is that staff travel is used to subsidise these lower fares to the public!!

Just another "great" way this company makes it a "great" place to work.

Staff travel availability in EZY depends on both the route and time before departure. Business routes tend to have limited availabilty 24/7 whereas the holiday hot spots tend to have more, except during school holidays and last flight out of the UK on Fridays and first one back on Mondays. Also seats may not be released to staff until the day of departure (and close 2 hours before STD). Having said that, it's not impossible to commute using staff travel provided the route is well served i.e. several flights per day and also from alternative nearby airports. A good friend of mine commutes weekly to/from a popular holiday location and has had to fly into/out of a nearby alternative airport only twice in the last 18 months :D .
