JALways and HACS
 

Any informations regarding job conditions, pay, upgrade potential at JALways would be greatly appreciated. I currently work at a major U.S. Carrier that is in dismal condition and am looking at the real possibility of being furloughed a second time. For this reason, I am considering other opportunities within aviation.

Can one make a career out of working for a contract company such as HACs? Are there other companies that it would be perferable to contract through? Thanks in advance.

I have it on very good authority that the Nippon contact via Parc is a smiggen better than HACS, but that does not deter from the fact that the Nippon job is the best kept secret in the industry, from all stand points !!!

Call the brokers mentioned they will fill you in on the details....

I could be wrong, but I believe the PARC contract either doesn't pay health insurance, or doesn't contribute to a retiement account. Hence, the pay a PARC is better. I'm sure somebody will straighten me out on it. Also, PARC requires you to have the 74 type for the NCA job.

In any event, yes, the NCA job would seem to be a pretty good gig.

Does anybody know why they require a jet type rating? It doesn't matter what it is on, as long as you have a commercial jet type.

really appreciate the input. Just finished submitting my application for JALways. Hope they have some openings in the near future. The commute home to Hawaii from the mainland is getting a little old.

I was also wondering if anyone would have info on JALways. Got the sched thing, thank you, what about upgrade times? Also how difficult is the commute while your getting ready to move? Also any info on housing and moving reccomendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

I gather that at the moment typed guys are flavour du jour but this is not always the case.
From the websites of the respective agencies, the "accepting applications" is just that and you have to follow up on each app to the point where they are actually starting selection etc.
Anyone know of upcoming requirements for the new year for JALWays, NCA and Air Japan?

Right now upgrade running 2.5-3 years. Commuting is no good anytime, but you can get 6 moving days. Housing is one of the most expensive markets in the US.

Thanks Snape. It dosen't sound like there is a lot of pressure to move immediatly, just sometime after training is complete. Is there a particular part of the island that would be more affordable (realitivly speaking), or parts which should simply be avoided? It seems that there are really only a couple of real estate agents who seem to have a monopoly on the island, and being the synic I am I trust no one, especially if there is money involved. This is all very premature knowing the odds of getting all the way through the interview and medical process, but I like to have as many ducks in a row as possible, espically if it means certain poverty for a few years;) .

Try near Wheeler Army Airfield. I forget the name of the towns.
And there are plenty of real estate agents on the Island.If you get close to the job PM me and I'll give you a name or two.JW

That town is Mililani. Most of the housing construction goes on in Kapolei and Ewa areas now. These are near the former Barbers Pint NAS. Prices are ridiculous $600,000 is the median and those are not great homes.

Oh man, there are not a lot of affordable parts of the island of Oahu, but it's all relative. If you have a house to sell and have some equity, you obviously will have a much easier time, plus it depends on type of house, age, etc., that you want.

Waikiki and Hawaii Kai are expensive. Waikiki sucks, unless you enjoy traffic and fat white tourists. Hawaii Kai is nice. For better rates, check out Waipahu, Waikele, Ewa Beach, Kapolei, and Mililani. The best recommendation is to come here and look around. Few real estate agents will spend much time with you unless you're here.

I am having trouble finding information regarding the fleet and crew employment for JALways. I can only seem to come across a news release from last year with not much info. The website is in Japanese and I can't figure out how to convert it into English. Anyone with some info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks from this hopeful.
