As for the APU usage, it's Captain's discretion. End of story. Similar to the landing gear, you don't have to use it, but common sense dictates it is the preferred option.

Re: Jet2 757 Fleet?

This wouldn't be the same Irish airline you mention that tried to recruit Jet2 pilot's with 737-300/900 on their licences but insisted on a 5 YEAR BOND for an NG differences course would it??
Although they did try to bond already rated guys they didn't have much of a take up on this offer. I don't know of anyone who was already flying the 737 who had to sign a bonding agreement; if they did then they were either extremely poor negotiators or plain daft. You say they tried to recruit Jet2 pilots who were 737-300/900 rated? How many 900s do jet2 currently have in their fleet? I honestly don't think that there are any NGs battered, used & abused enough to make it onto Channex's AOC. Ryanair are flogging their old 200s though, maybe PM can get a bid in for them before the Nigerians do!

X-C

don't be obtuse. You know full well that the '300-900' reference is how the rating appears on your licence.
Jet2 only have 300 varients, but many of us flew NGs in a previous company.
Hope that simplifies things for you.

Re: Jet2 757 Fleet?

I do apologise, Silverhawk, I didn't think that I was being, 'obtuse.' I now feel very 'simplified' indeed. ;) It was just on open goal for a cheap shot at a very low down company: yours by the way.

For your information, Jet2, you didn't all turn down The Bhoys because of any bonding agreement (& let's face it, if you are supporting Channex on this one then you are supporting the most restrictive & punitive bonding system there can possibly be) some of your colleagues tried to get into Ryanair but failed.

Man, what happened to you? Obviously you are really being eaten up inside. I just hope that you manage to find a little self respect and then hopefully you won't feel the need to lash out at people, taking indiscriminate cheap shots.

I find it very upsetting to see how low you have sunk, and really hope you get well soon, because what you've said is cold.... really cold.

Wishing you all the best, as always

Trip Switch, I find it difficult to take that it's you talking about self respect. Your management pilots, (does PM allow that term these days?) refuse to promote any good Captain into the higher levels of the training department because they would show R.L. up. This is, IMHO, producing the poor level of operation to which Jet2/Channex aspire. J.B. is a very worthy exception to this, Channex better never let him go because then it really would be Good Night Vienna.

As an airline you were warned about the dangerous flying of a German contract Captain by at least three First Officers at MAN. Again, a very worthy Captain, who has since left Channex (hey, what a surprise) tried to do something about the situation but was humiliated & over ruled by R.B. They moved the rogue skipper to LBA & what happened? First day the F/O refuses to fly with him again because the Captain is so p!ss poor, second day he nearly goes off the end of the runway. Only then do Channex take action! Fast forward three months, switch on the news & look at the horrific live pictures of a Greek moutainside at a tragic incident that is still to be explained. Self respect? How dare you?

On a personal level, I 'got well' as soon as I walked out of Channex, an airline where to get on you need constantly kiss butt to climb up the ladder. Know what I mean Trip Swith? Of course you do.

If making rather childish personal attacks on others helps you to sleep better at night and gives you a greater sense of self worth, then I am chuffed to bits for you. Seriously blue, whatever makes you feel better about yourself.

Pulpfiction or whatever your name may be. I find the things you sling at the management pilots of jet2 amusing, to say the least. What I cannot comprehend however is that someone like yourself, who clearly claims to be superior to most of us mere mortals remaining in this "shoddy, cirus - like" airline (or however you wish to describe it,) can have the poor judgement to openly blame an individual for an accident that is still under investigation! As far as the decision to terminate his services was concerned, may I suggest that you at least attempt to obtain "the other side" of the story before you launch off into yet more ill - informed statements of "fact." Call me if you wish, I am who I say I am.

Re: Jet2 757 Fleet?

Forget it frank, if that’s who you really are,

He was suspended by a line trainer, line trainer then overruled by FOD, next day pilot reinstated at a new base, a significant number of F/O’s then refused to fly with him then Jet 2 give the guy a good reference.

The rest is history.

…….I suspect you are not the real FB. If you are, I cannot believe you would dare comment on this issue!

All Frank is saying, quite rightly, is that regardless of this particular Captain's performance with us, it is totally unfair to prejudge the outcome of the investigation. If you or anybody else can prove he was responsible, then chat with the Greek authorities. If not, it would be wise to await the outcome of their detailed investigation. Unreasonable?

There is, of course, another thread which this particular discussion is better suited to.

As always, kindest regards

Seconded

Investigations are based on fact not speculation.

Speculation and finger pointing at this stage are totally unacceptable.

ill be buggered if im going to J2, been at TCX for the last seven years, still no command but V close to the top (Not just in date of join but in comm check) so tempted by a quick command but, no way. think its a two bit outfit for now. Can someone prove me wrong???>

Sub rosa 11th January 2006 10:00

Re: Jet2 757 Fleet?

I’m not sure my last post was prejudging the outcome of the Helios accident enquiry.

The facts are that at JET2 a much respected trainer (now resigned) suspended this pilot from line flying, following a line check. Within hours this decision was overruled by the FOD and the pilot was put back on the line at a different base. No sim, no further line check, just off you go!

It is indeed unusual for a management pilot to enter a public forum and discus issues such as this. I am therefore sceptical that MFB is who he says he is. However if he is he will now surely explain the ‘other side of the story’? Perhaps he could specifically explain by what mechanism one of our instructors can fail an individual, record it on the T3 and that pilot still be returned to flying status without a further check?

As I said, give me a call or better still, let's meet and we can discuss - THIS is not the forum.

…..great idea. And then get ritually sacked by PM for questioning the so called management. Hmmm…Think I best not.

You entered this debate; you now wish to discuss it in private. Why not use this forum to silence your critics! If you can?

Tight Slot, please check your PMs.

MFB, I'm in no doubt that the great majority of us are silently appalled at the way our friendly airline is being trashed by just a few embittered colleagues.

Sub Rosa,

I couldn't have put it better myself, well said. In an airline with no democracy the only avenue open to us is a web site like this, to expose what a complete shower they actually are. Now MFB enters the debate & then wants to 'discuss' it privately. I.e. threaten & gag anyone who dares to bring an appalling series of events, that did occur, out into the open.

Trip Switch,

Sub Rosa...Pulp...
It's VERY obvious to me that you only have the one side of the story...floppy ears and all !
As in ANY type of orginisation, there are ALWAYS laid down protocol/procedures to be followed in situations such as this poor individual...for the protection of the employee as much as for the employer.

I think NOT...A PUBLIC forum is NOT the place to discuss what is a company matter...PLEASE give the "Big Man" a call, he'll give you it straight !!

Originally, this post wasn't going to be very pleasant. Your constant digs made me want to bite back..... I know exactly who you are and it was about to get a whole lot of nasty. But, I'm over it. Give MFB a call. Now that you no longer work for us, he won't be able to "threaten" or "gag" you.

Whatever it is that you feel about me, the company, all of the 'crap' pilots at Jet2, MFB, RL, RB, how you feel you were treated - none of that is important. You are obviously in a better place now. I'm happy for you. Look to future. Go in peace and enjoy it.

And, as always blue, wishing you all the best :)

Children Children! If you think Jet2.com is so bad please show me an airline that is perfect and why are we all not working for it!
These people that you dont like will not stay forever! This company is going places and is it evolves things will change.
As by my name im not a pilot and kept my job when the A300 goes, but my deparment works far more hours than you airborne bus drivers, gets paid far less money than you but will still support our pilots 100% even if they are of the wobbly variety because we can talk to them and try to point out the errors of there ways.
Oh Pulp never kissed ass in me life thats why I am where I am today bitching and moaning all the way but with respect and my head held high.
