Jet2 assessment at GECAT

A friend is just about to go through a Jet2 DEC assessment at GECAT. Could someone please give an up-to-date idea about what to expect?

Thank you!

I attended a Gecat sim assesment about a year ago...it was all pretty basic stuff.
They fully brief you before the sorte as to speeds/profiles etc.
The "ride" was a straight ahead dept..followed by a couple of steep turns..then into a hold (engine shutdown)...followed by a procedural ILS (2 eng) to land. A quick reposition for another T/o with V1 cut... all in 45 mins.....

If you are 737 rated you will be expected to do more single engine stuff. Probably a SE ILS.

I'm very surprised to see you asking fellow Ppruners what the selection process is for Jet2, pilothouse, as on another thread on this forum you claim to work for them?!

In fact you were quite against those of us who were pointing out what a potentially dangerous operator this company is & claimed that you found them to be absolutely fine to work for.

If you really do work for Jet2 then all you have to do is to ask your fellow colleagues what the selection process is like, sim & all. Did you not have a sim test when you supposedly joined?

Bam Thwok & Rudolf, thank you - also to S who sent a very useful and detailed PM.

X-Centric, I'm sorry you doubt my sincerity. My assessment was at CTC, where they do things differently. I don't actually know any DEC's who have come via a recent GECAT assessment, type-rated or otherwise - hence my post.

Sikeano, I've reported you for being offensive.

"Sikeano, I've reported you for being offensive."

Possibly, but it hasn't come through to me yet. However we do take all complaints seriously, but having reviewed this thread, I cannot see anything that seriously violates the site / forum rules. However I would suggest that the thread move back on track to the posters original question.

pilot house,
Did you get my PM. Tried to send it from the US on a friends computer so it might have got lost.

SFD

Incidentally, I can confirm that pilot house is an honest and respectable bloke who has done nothing but give his honest and unbiased opinion about HIS experience at Jet 2. Like the mod says, lets get back to the original topic.

Thanks SFD, support much appreciated and please see my latest PM.

If you have no objection, others might like to see the sim scenario that you PM'd me a few days ago - could you post it perhaps?

Can anyone pass on info about the aptitude tests?..not for me but a mate who is away at the moment.

I know theres threads all over about this...but specifics would help my buddy

Cheers H
:)

Fairly basic numerical and verbal aptitude tests. Pleasant interview to make sure your face fits. Sim is the cruncher - may sound obvious, but you really do have to be able to fly.

All sounds easy, but only if you are the sort of pilot they want. I heard of one guy, a very pleasant and capable pilot, who failed because he told them how to run the sim assessent.
