How desperate is O'Leary ?

How desperate is Ryanair getting for pilots ?

Lots of rumours (some from FR pilots) of coming deals such as
5/4 and even 4/4 with golden handshakes ..etc..

Any truths ?

Wing Commander Fowler 9th October 2005 17:17

No............!

TwoDots 10th October 2005 09:22

Was that a NO! or a Noooooooooo........

I've heard the rumours of Golden Handshakes, I can't confirm or deny it. The 5/4 4/4 is true, I have met a few Captains who have done it.

They are very desperate for Pilots. Their recruitment and training is an absolute shambles, its reactive, not proactive. There is no one with an overview of the whole situation, no one involved can see the wood from the trees, its just desperate fire fighting. They have numerous people rated but sitting at home waiting for checks because they have no sim time.

With an aircraft arriving at the rate of one a week what will happen in the next few months?

Flyingsand 10th October 2005 10:29

More aircraft arriving, more and more people are leaving. Many captains will be achieving 900hrs by Xmas then watch the fun begin. If I were you I'd go for it, ask for a scandelous amount of money/roster pattern/base of choice etc. If they turn you down they'll probably call you back in a week and say OK. They are Desparate. Regarding pilots/hours and aircraft the numbers just don't add up, infact they don't even touch on coming close.

Good luck ;)

Anyone who has already enjoyed 5/4 or 4/4 is a contractor - I don't believe this rumour relates to contractors...... 2dots?

crisidebrian 11th October 2005 21:40

Anybody can confirm this 4/4 thing?!!

Wing Commander Fowler 11th October 2005 21:43

Noooo.....! Not a cat in hell's!

captplaystation 13th October 2005 23:02

"objects viewed in this mirror may be larger/smaller?than reality" "numbers quoted in your verbal interview may(indeed will!) be larger/smaller than reality" As Phil Lynott (another fine Irish product) sang"don't believe a word". Good luck.

I can't imagine why. Ask for it in writing, make sure it is in your contract.

But, assuming for a minute that you are right, can you give some examples of the sort of things promised but not delivered?

In fact any examples of the sort of thing Ryanair management get up to would be helpful for those contemplating going there - but only if it is true!

captplaystation 14th October 2005 22:04

Reality is what happened yesterday, everything else is just a rumour;and if you read the multitude of threads here, almost everything that has been written by those of us inside is true, most of us don't feel the need to talk it up/or down with the notable exception of one Leo-Hairy-Arse,who is conspiciously absent at the moment, wonder why. . .

I have heard similar rumours through a Ryanair Captain. Nothing about the roster but very similar to flyingsand's comments. A severe shortage of pilots. The figure of thousand required in the near future. In his opinion they cannot continue to ask for type rating money up front for much longer quite simply because it puts off too many possible applicants. More likely a loan arrangement as per other airlines.

I also heard that they have been giving back some of things taken away recently such as medical fees or the price of a uniform at bases away from Dublin?. Perhaps a current Ryanair pilot could confirm this?

Let's face it something must change soon. If the pilot pool is growing smaller, Ryanair cannot continue to attach complications to possible candidates. They will vote with their CV's and work for their rivals.

recently issued non negotiable contract for d.e. capt.doesn't appear to be any shortage if this is anything to go by.the terms and conditions were appalling.third world to say the least.
