flying for charter companies

hey everybody,

I have a question, that maybe, you can answer.

What are the positive points in flying for a charter company? And the negative ones?

Let me know!

Hi,

Not sure what you're really trying to ask here, but I will give you a couple of my observations. First of all if you are a low time pilot the benifits would be that you don't have as much support as an airline guy, you have to be able to file flight plans, maybe do a little of your own maintenance, be very familiar with ground handling aspects of your aircraft such as fueling and defueling and cold weather storage. Also you fly to a variety of airports in various countries, some small airfields without towers, many nonprecision approaches, all this stuff I mentioned is great experience. Some negative aspects may be things like a poor schedule, possibly many one sector days with few opportunities for first officer landings, hard to deal with captains, poor oportunities for upgrade, minimum training. Of course I am just taking a stab in the dark here, not sure what type aircraft you are going to operate or how large the company is. Happy landings.

Working your @r5e off over the summer... Night shifts...

But on the plus side, you don't get radar vectored round the ILS's of big cities all the time... Lots of "make it up as you go along" and visual approaches!!

:)

hey,

thanks for the replies.

I am invited for an interview with a charter company (touroperator).

I am really eager to fly for this company and as they will probably ask me: why a charter? I just wanted to know your opinions!

Many thanks
