Easyjet base in Scotland

Hi Guys

I've just found out that I've passed the Easyjet interview and they have given a start date in January for a Boeing course.

My three base choices were Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle.

I am from Scotland and therefore obviously keen to be based there.

Can anyone currently working for Easyjet tell me if this is likely or is there a waiting list for people to be based there.

Thanks in advance

GLA and EDI probably full and there may be a wait to get to them. NCL is probably a goer. handy commute on days off from EDI but a bit of a drive from GLA.

Also I think the scottish bases get all the really clapped out 300s ALL the time (no NG's) but I think NCL is all 700. so thats another good reason to go there.

good luck.

I'm based at EDI at the moment. We're currently overcrewed slightly and GLA has the right numbers.

However there are a few away for commands shortly so you should slot in. I've heard of a couple of people who are currently waiting on Scottish bases who are in the company but don't expect a long wait.

Be aware that the company are currently wanting to dual base (EDI/GLA) all pilots. Currently employed pilots will be dual based if they volunteer and new joiners will be automatically dual based. None of us are happy about the prospect so just look closely at what you're offered.....if you live at either end of the M8 and have to do 3 six sector days on the trot and then have an hours drive at the end of each day you're going to be working awfully long days with a knackering drive at the end...

Dawn_Raider has it right, NCL is all -700 with fantastic routes and EDI/GLA are -300's but, if you believe the rumours, due to go Airbus in March/April/May.

Can anyone help me get on with Easyjet? I have applied multiple times and no avail. Currenlty 3300 total time with 2000 (ERJ145, CRJ200) time with 800 Saab 2000. I do not know anyone at Easy. HELP!!!!

If you can help me out with any insight, that would be great.

From a point of view as an outsider who deals with the easy crews at NCL on a daily basis, they are a great bunch - both flight deck and cabin crew. Noticeably more approachable than any of our other crews here and I would work for them any day. Currently 6 x 700s and approx 15 different routes, mostly daily.

Easily commutable to EDI, either A1 or A68 and about 1h40. GLA not so easy, and around 2h30m by road (A69, M74), but far quicker by train. Absolutely shed loads of reasonably priced housing in the area too, especially new apartments, and airport easy to commute to from almost anywhere locally. As a base, I'm biased and reckon its a little known gem.

As a new joiner if you want GLA it is extremely likely that you will have to agree to dual basing GLA/EDI so you will need to consider travelling and lifestyle arrangements accordingly.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I live in Lanarkshire so either Gla/Edi would be ideal, hopefully it wouldn't take long to get a base there.

Newcastle sounds fun also, it's just a bit too far to commute, so I would have to get a property there, my reason for wanting a base in Scotland is that i have a 5yr old son who would remain up here.

My main concearn is that I get a base in England on the Boeing and then EDI/GLA goes Airbus.

We are short of F/O in GLA at the mo' .three have left and not been replaced yet (they may be about to be ) .

I note that EZY have dropped the TRSS scheme for all applicants and are definetly short of f/o's . You may wish to try refusing a joint base if they offer it to you .

i know it's difficult to stand up to them but in the current climate where they need to bums on seats before next summer , they may very well give you what you want .

You should talk to BALPA about this issue too , i know that they have suddenly become very interested in it . We in Scotland have been trying to get them interested for months and they now realise that EDI/GLA is the thin end of the wedge and if it happens here then STN / LGW will be next ,as there are plenty of places that are technically wthin 90 mins drive of both .

Look forward to seeing you in GLA .
