Commuting costs
I was recently offered a job which would involve commuting ( i could not afford to live in such a place) but the company had no interest at all in assisting with staff travel until six months service.
Combined with the cost of accommodation, food, running a car and paying the mortgage and bills at home makes it a financial nightmare. Is this normal practise with most companies? I think it shows a major lack of consideration for a possible valuable employee! I will be grateful for some feedback. Nomercy. |
It depends on the company... if it is regional or commuter itself, it probably isnt going to do much helping. On the other hand, if it is a legacy or flag carrier, then i yes, i would suspect some help.

standard 6 months with companies. but check who they have rebate travel agreements with as this can make a big difference to your costs and flexibilty. but do not expect any financal or preferential rostering treatment.
