Brittania Roster
Hi
Does anyone working for Brttania have roster lying around, which they could put on here? Cheers |
I am sorry but you have to spell Britannia right- better still call it ThomsonFly.
Rosters stable, block window protected, strong working relation with BALPA. Unlike most others. Enjoy:ok: |
What to do,
A roster is personal document rather like a payslip. Although it might be generally de-identified, most pilots wouldn't want to put it up for general display for any number of reasons. However given the helpful nature of many of the frequent contributors to these forums, it might help your case if you suggested a valid reason for wanting the public display of such information. |
We dont have a typical roster really as it depends on your base, do you fly longhaul or are you 737 as opposed to 75/76.
As stated we are looked after. I fall over if crewing make a change it is that RARE. And with block window protection you can tell them "no" under certain conditions. Personally hard work makes me :yuk: and as I am gunning for the biggest slacker in the company my roster wouldnt be typical. :E MAX:cool: |
Dogma
I was given the impression that CARMEN was proving a bit of a nightmare from a mate of mine in your mob. Lots of positioning around and faffing about! As for a strong relationship with BALPA...."unlike most others"....that is just a typical stuck up Britannia mentality. BALPA haven't stopped your airline becoming a low cost airline overnight have they? Roll on the 737's in your main bases and let's see if it is such a stable place to work shall we? Personally I don't believe Britannia is any better than Monarch or Thomas Cook. You just always want to believe they are. Good luck in the low cost world, I hope easy and Ryan allow you to make your millions unhindered. In fact we all do, as everyone knows Britannia is the centre of the universe and only manned by the "right stuff". |
So they didn't give you a job then?

Wheelbarrow- With an attitude like that I am sure that operating a wheelbarrow is all you can aspire to:ugh:
Carmen experiments are on going, it is a high powered rostering tool and has had some pretty odd positioning duties being spat out. Early days..... hopefully it can deliver pilots even more control over their rosters. We'll see. Thomsonfly is a great company that is going balls to the wall. The mixed model of lowcost and IT is a great concept. We currently operate 40 aircraft to places such as Jersy and soon Sydney. I am not going to speculate about where we are in the pecking order but I am happy. Its going to be a tough year of change but I'd rather be aggressive and innovative than do nothing. BALPA is a partner in this process, better in than out. |
Dogma
There you go again. Aspiring to operating a WHEELBARROW? Well, seeing as I have operated the BOEING and the AIRBUS A320 family, you are wrong. Good luck to you in your challenging year. Balls to the wall? Some would say your company is in danger of going t?ts up if it takes on Ryan and Easy. I look forward to your edifying response.... if you aren't positioning somewhere via CARMEN. :p |
wheelbarrow
I have worked for a number of UK Jet operators including Britannia - head and shoulders the best job I've had. They have their share of 'superior beings' like many established airlines but that says more about the individuals than the airline. BTW... I probably shouldn't have left (years ago) but tried unsuccessfully to get back in at Coventry. :( |
Sorry, sorry
Yeah I horribly spelled that to be honest, sorry guys. So, nobody's gonna give me a glimpse of a roster? Do you really thinking management are gonna be bothered to check up on it? Cheers |
Do you want a typical roster for the 757/767 or the 737?
|
I'm sorry but maybe I'm missing the point here why would a roster be considered sensitive personal information; unless you're cheating on your wife or the taxman or both?
After more than twenty years of rosters I'm a little stumped. If you do have a roster and willing to help this guy then what's the harm? Stop pretending to be James Bond and help the guy out. |
Hello again
757/767 would be all good. Is the 737 taking the low cost 5 on 3 off etc shape? Cheers |
My current 757/767 roster for end of May towards the end of June says:
3 days off, Reserve week, 3 days off, 2 weeks leave, 3 days off reserve week, 3 days off. Probably not much help though :O I lay down the "greatest slacker" gauntlet to you Max :D |
SID,
What percentage of your flying is in the 757 vs. the 767-200/300? Do you personally have an aircraft preference? Lastly, what percentage of flying for that roster is trans-atlantic vs. purely Med flying? Cheers |
Riker, I have no idea what the ratio of 757 to 762/3 time is, it varies from season to season and base to base. I prefer the 763 as it is fitted with headrests and we get proper sized cups of coffee.
For my current roster I have no trips scheduled at all - I'm on reserve. Long haul would probably involve 1/2 or maybe 3 trips per month with durations of 3-7 days, the rest of your flying should then be short-medium haul with a 4 on/3 off pattern although the new Carmen process is changing this at the moment for some (not all are being badly affected by Carmen). |
Not to mention you only get summer longhaul if you are LGW, MAN or BHX and senior enough to be on the longhaul list. Which was the point I tried to make with nothing being typical.
SID, I laugh at your pathetic challenge to my roster! Ha Ha Ha. :E MAX:cool: |
Typical Roster
My roster for may and june goes as follows:
May I was on leave at the beginning of May. 6- day off 7- day off 8- day off 9- blank day 10- Canaries 11- Position from LGW to another base on BA 12- Crete 13- Position back to LGW on BA 14- day off 15- day off 16- Egypt 17- Recovery day 18- day off 19- day off 20- day off 21- Spain 22- Spain 23- blank day 24- day off 25- day off 26- Greece 27- day off 28- day off 29- Greece 30- Greece 31- blank day June 1- day off 2- day off 3- day off 4- blank day 5- canaries 6- training 7- training 8- day off 9- day off I am then into about 3 weeks leave. A blank day is basically a day off. It has not been rostered as a day off as you have finished too late the night before or you are starting too early the next day. In theory the company can roster a duty on these days but I have never had it happen. I think that this is a fairly typical LGW roster. Possibly a bit on the quiet side. I am shortly going onto Long Haul. It seems that the guys on Long Haul work a bit less as you can control your roster by bidding for trips. I hope this helps. :O TSP3 Ps: Britannia really is the best company to work for and I would recommend it to anyone. |
and to illustrate the point: May to June
12 UK to Jamaica 13-16 Rum Punch etc 17-18 overnighter to UK, hotel for day, position home 19-22 Days Off, last 2 requested, 10 pairs a year allowed 23 blank 24 Spain 25 UK to Dom Rep 26 Cheap, gut ache beer in grotty hotel 27-28 Overnighter to UK etc 29-3 3 Days Off, 2 Days leave (42 days a year is it, don't know, personally, too much to use) 4 UK - Orlando 5-8 God's Country and a national icon with big ears, cheeseburgers and Oprah reruns 9-10 Overnighter to Uk etc 11-12 Days Off 13 UK Spain and UK nightstop 14 UK Spain back to base 15 UK Greece Earliest start 0655 local, latest finish 2340 local (excepting Long Haul returns) Last change to roster: No idea Stuck up gits: No, professionals who just sound that way sometimes Carmen: Early days, about 5% getting funny positioning. All ridiculous Caribbean positioning abandoned, promises of preference rostering etc etc etc. Lo Cost: All pilots on all fleets on exactly same T&Cs. Some variation in new guys bonding and pension. Both still pretty good I believe. Time to Command: Minimal in some cases, going right through the seniority list as a low hour joiner, who knows but I'm in the frame at 7 years. Idiots with wheelbarrows: None TTFN:E |
Cheers guys and thanks for posting that

No Worries.
Need any more help just PM me. |
Great look at the rosters.
Clearly, Brits offers one of the better flying jobs in the UK based on feedback I have heard. Obviously it takes a while to get non-Med flying (over to Jamaica, Orlando, etc.), but it sounds like good flying nonetheless. Flying the 757/767 would be great. Makes you wonder why so many people are interested in LCC positions at Easy and Ryan - those positions sound more like "jobs" to me... Given the choice (which would require a lot of luck), Brits would be the preferred route in my mind. |
I don't think its an issue in being interested in flying for a low cost. It is more like the only choice for most.
