Paid in Euros
Anyone out there paid in Euros but still resident in UK hence up for charges for conversion and cheques etc?
I'm trying to find one that gets around it. HSBC do it but I can't go there for various reasons. Cheers SS |
If these payments are made from withing the EU, Euro-denominated credit transfers (wire transfers) inot UK accounts will not cost more than an intra-UK credit transfers up to an amount of € 12,500 per transaction, even if your UK account is Sterling denominated. Conversion rate will be the "interbank rate" (i.e. pretty good). The threshold of €12,500 will be revised to €50,000 as from 1 January 2006.
See this document (Article 3 on page 3 is the one you want). |
I get paid in Euros to my RBOS account in the UK. (resident in the UK). It turns up in pounds. For my allowances, they must go to a Euro account. I set up one with Lloyds TSB Offshore. Fairly painless to do, just have €2000 to put in it.
Untill I had that account running, I received a cheque in € for the allowances/per diems. |
