What is going on at EZY?

What is going on in Orange towers!

Sounds like the proposed new rostering deal is being railroaded through despite the promises of a pilot ballot, leave bids were put out for a 5/2 5/4 despite the proposal not yet being accepted by crews.

The Balpa chairman has put his name to the letters which appear to accept the company line, , dont the members have a say?

I thought we had eventually started to get this outfit sorted but obviously not; also hear through the grapevine that some of the BC's have stepped down, anyone confirm anything?

I think there may be trouble ahead!!!!!!!
:ugh:

FlapsOne 18th January 2005 15:43

Railroaded??????

...........but there is a vote next month when the ballot papers go out as stated in the minutes of the meetings.

Is there some other sort of ballot you would like?

What the company choses to do before a democratic vote is their problem and for them to resolve.

btw. If you're a Balpa member why not post this on the Balpa BB instead of here?

Colonel Klink 18th January 2005 15:54

Noflare,

Firstly, I am the Balpa Chairman about whom you posted this ridiculous rumour. To say it contains very little truth is an understatement.

Leave bids were always going to be put out for the 5/2/5/4; it was logical to assume that this would happen since the overwhelming majority of crews on the trial were in favour of it. The proposed leave arrangements have caused this furore, but this is the best deal available from the company through negotiation. PM me if you wish to discuss.

Stan Woolley 18th January 2005 15:58

What the company choses to do before a democratic vote is their problem and for them to resolve.
So they're still pulling your plonkers eh.

It really is the same old story year after year.

Still trying to do the company favours by trying to hide the mess in the Balpa forum eh Flaps? I reckon you're about seven years too late.

Flying Quill 18th January 2005 16:12

My understanding is that most people, the crews involved in the trial, the company council, and the pilot management believe that the 5/2,5/4 rostering sequence is proving to be a success. With this belief comes the hope, perhaps the expectation that the pattern will be accepted by those eligible to vote.

Now, since the leave bidding process must begin before the end of the roster trial, it needs to be presented in one format or the other. It makes sense to offer leave based on the format which is more likely to be in place at some point beyond March. If, however, the 5/2,5/4 trial is rejected then rosters and associated leave must be realigned with whatever follows.

I am not involved with the trial, the cc or pilot management. I merely wait to be given the opportunity to vote.

There have been comprehensive mailings by the cc and pilot management on this subject. C'mon, noflare, read your emails and look forward to exercising your right to vote like the rest of us!

Edited to correct grammar point, sorry!

noflare 18th January 2005 17:12

I think some of you guys need to get your head out of the sand, have you been in the crew rooms recently and guaged the general opinion/feeling.
A lot of us are pretty p****d off with the whole thing.
The leave bid was a fiasco, and can someone please tell me what the back up plan is if this 5/2 5/4 is rejected.

It seems that yet again we are about to be shafted by the great orange dildo!

Little Friend 18th January 2005 17:21

Hi Stan...yes the same old again just more new indignant faces.

The only reason they get away with it is the influx of new guys..theoriginals having left, given up or died of fatigue.

Noflare the best you can hope for is some KY...

Bart O'Lynn 18th January 2005 18:07

Well if you stopped wasting time talking to tv crews about the uninteresting things you do at home , then you might get more rest. Problem solved

Banzai Eagle 18th January 2005 20:28

no flare

Flying Quill summed it up very well, whats your real agenda then?

outofsynch 18th January 2005 22:06

Coz he probably is not a member and pi$$ed he wont be consulted for his opinions.

Hopefully all those upset at what the CC have negotiated, will be joining the CC this year, to show how its done.....????

Basic T 18th January 2005 22:59

The next thing BALPA should start to arrange is a seniority list!!
With almost 1100 pilots, we all start to become very egoistic to save our own asses!

:D

Norman Stanley Fletcher 18th January 2005 23:10

It is difficult to see this as anything else other than muck stirring - it is a mountain out of a molehill. I am not in BALPA and will therefore not get to vote but I cannot see the problem.

If 5/2-5/4 is passed in the vote by BALPA members then we will get it, but otherwise it will be back to square one and a new leave bid will be sorted out. The company simply had to make some sort of arrangements in the meantime. To work on the basis that 5/2-5/4 would go through seems entirely reasonable. It is no big deal if it does not as we will just be given a revised set of dates to choose from for leave and away we go. There is nothing hidden, underhand or wierd going on and any rational person can see that.

The obsessive ranting about the company trying to stuff its employees and BALPA being in some way not fulfilling their responsibilities is frankly so untrue as to be embarrassing. Col Klink and his colleagues should be thanked for their efforts by members and non-members alike, and not criticised.

There seems to me to be a genuine desire to make this work but if at the end of the day the members say no then that's it over with. There are no conspiracies and no backroom deals. If you are a BALPA member and you don't like it - don't vote for it. If you are not in BALPA and you feel overwhelmingly strongly on this issue (I don't personally) then join. It's only as difficult as you make it.

FlapsOne 19th January 2005 07:31

Basic T

How right you are!!

The subject has been raised, ignored, raised again, lowered, raised.................

.....get my drift.

It MUST and WILL be re-visited!

POLICE 19th January 2005 08:16

Nice to see how united you all are at CheesyJet!

easyprison 19th January 2005 11:26

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that it's going to be a NO vote. Let's hope we are and become more united to fight the company for a decent lifestyle. Over the last two years our t&c's have pretty much gone down the pan.

Stu Bigzorst 19th January 2005 13:28

If you want to preserve a lifestyle, surely a NO vote will cause a return to random roster - a lifestyle disaster. Further, in my experience, it is only a vociferous few on the trial who dislike it.

Krysten 19th January 2005 14:40

I can't help but think that under different circumstances, we could be reading a thread along the lines of....

"Easy leave bid doesn't take into account 5/2/5/4 vote. What are they going to do if we accept, it will be chaos!"

It actually shows a good deal more forward planning than certain other loco planning departments. (although,to be fair, they are railroading on a mainline track! )

orangetree 19th January 2005 16:04

Stu, what lifestyle will you have when you lose 10 days leave per year? It's a p**s-take. The leave debacle is detracting from the whole 5254 issue..which has more holes in it than the side wall of an Iraqi government office. If it gets voted in where will it all end? ask yourself that.

easyprison 19th January 2005 20:27

Agree with orangetree. A NO vote doesn't mean going back to random rostering.

Don't be bullied by rumours that aren't true. ;)

birdonthewire 20th January 2005 07:41

It doesn't seem to be the 5/2/5/4 per se that most people have a problem with (anything's got top be an improvement on the 6/3), it's the of terms and conditions that go with it. The whole package doesn't add up.
