Monarch Rosters/duty pattern
 
Happy New Year to you all!

Just in case I'm offered a Luton base (F/O) after my interview, I'd be obliged if any Monarch pilot would let me know the duty pattern (5 on 2 off?) Many standbys?

In the summer in LTN you'll hardly ever be in LTN, usually be in BHX or EDI if that is a base for s05. Winters you get availables and standbys as well as flying duties. Availables mean calling a phone line the day before, or being phoned on your day off (so don't answer the phone).

Rosters rarely resemble what you will actually do. You will always more or less get 2 days off in a row, but getting a whole weekend off is a rare thing, trust me.

You are joining a VERY unhappy workforce, bear that in mind!!!

Great colleagues you will find, but there are better jobs out there.

Dreamweaver..ref your query regarding rosters at MON ,they are published on the 20th of each month for the whole of the next calendar month and some months you get lots of changes and other months things stay as published--depends how short of pilots we are !!
You will get 8 days off a month usually in pairs but do not anticipate many weekends off.
320 fleet you will get few SBY and in the summer you will cover outstations (last year BHX/EDI) as well as LTN and can expect 14/18 flights per month mainly away from LTN...winter is mainly schedule ex LTN 12/16 flights a month working out at around 700/750 hours a year and £5-6000 in allowances--as for the 330 you would be lucky to get on it in 5 years.
757 fleet tends to be more seasonal ..in the summer lots of schedules ex LTN 12/16 flights a month and in the winter more SBY and more work ex DUB,adhocs etc-at the moment this is the better fleet to be on at LTN in terms of less workload.
Work is usually in blocks of 5/6 days followed by 2 days off.

As has been mentioned before the terms for new joiners have been reduced so if you are successful at your interview look at that contract carefully and compare it to what may be available elsewhere..the PLC are trying to get these conditions improvedbut it may take a while !!

Moan moan moan, never seen Monarch turn over that many crew so maybe it cant be that bad, and if its that bad why dont you jump to EZY or someone else that will treat your hollyness self much better. Aaagh

He has left for patures new. You're right that the turnover has been low but things are changing.

I've left and others are leaving. I loved working at Spotty M, yes once upon a time when it was a happy company, turnover was VERY low. It is a happy company no more, FACT!!

If T's and C's are improved and the pension restored for new joiners like Brits/Thomson, then it would be a place to have a great career. Trouble is the head bean counter and his sidekick have little or no respect from the workforce.

Are there more days off between duties?
How many days are off down route?
What is the rest period down route, minimum or quite liberal?

If pilots are leaving Monarch, where are they going? Easyjet is hiring on the Airbus but then you have to fly many more sectors per day - pay is a little better but your quality of life probably doesn't improve much. Sane people are avoiding Ryanair. BA and Virgin are hiring here and there, but pay is low to start and QOL is dependent upon fleet. I suppose Thomsonfly/Brits are hiring and a better choice so long as pay remains in good standing.

I am surprised non-newhires who are not targeted for the "C" payscale at Monarch would be leaving to go to the bottom of the seniority list somewhere else (unless it is directly into the left seat at Easy).

Riker a reflection of the times. Some pilots leaving Monarch from both seats for a right seat BA, Virgin and Emirates. Left seat Easyjet to fly more but shoter sectos. Apart from the most recent recruits all the Monarch pilots tend to have high experience levels and several years commitment to Monarch.
