Monarch Pay

Can anyone shed any light on the rumoured pay deal that the CTC ATP guys have been offered now that their 6 months are up.

Something about a cat c pay scale?

Are there plans for recruitment this winter?

Cheers Joe

New pilots have been offered a salary approx 32% less than the existing scale 'A' salary. The new contract also omits PHI, Loss of Licence, Day Off working payments etc plus an extremely average money purchase pension scheme.
New cabin crew can also expect to be paid 7% less than their colleagues.

But is this 32% drop in salary offered to the ctc bunch inclusive of the bond repayments?

Don't they 'hop' onto the 'A' scale once they've paid them back for their training?

If they were CTC cadets then theoretically yes. After approx 7 years of reduced salary they would then go onto full pay scale.

However this is not the case for the ATP guys (I think a good number of them were taken on last Jan). The ATP scheme means allowances only for 6 months then onto full wage. However it seems Monarch have created a new lower salary for them too.

Thanks for the info groundstar.

No they remain on the much lower 'C' scale for the rest of their careers. Also they have paid for their training but are still to be bonded

Whoops,

If this is correct it is extremely sad, and short sighted of Monarch (although I concede that it does give greater profits).

As a low hours pilot I had been thinking of the CTC scheme, and don't mind being bonded to pay back the training cost invested in me. I however do object to being permanently on a lower pay scale/t&c's after this has been paid off.

Surely as a group of professionals we must have more self worth than to accept an offer like this?

Localiser Green 7th October 2004 17:31

AFAIK the majority of CTC ATP guys (rightly) kicked up a fuss and have now been offered the basic payscale and perks.

Not true.

GROUNDSTAR 7th October 2004 21:04

The new 'c' scale affects ALL NEW PILOTS joining Monarch. Once an individual signs the contract then he or she will remain on it throughout their career. There is also, I believe, a 2yr bond plus an incremental scale where year ten equates to the former starting salary for the 'a' scale and similarly once a command is achieved the highest increment is the starting salary for a junior captain on the old contract.
Would advise anyone to think very carefully before submitting an application.

Groundstar,

Well that's all right then, equality for the masses. We all get equally shafted. :ugh:

longstay 8th October 2004 07:24

localiser green, not true, these guys are being bonded for 2 years and 12k after already working their bond off in the 6 months flying for noubt (standard ctc arrangements).

Rumour is feeling is so strong that industrial action is on the cards and that the 'new' md has managed to destoy 30 years of goodwill in 18 months.

Airbus Girl 8th October 2004 07:43

I work for First Choice and we are having similar "fun" in our negotiations with the company.
How about we all choose the same day for some industrial action?
We were thinking either the first Bank Holiday in May or one in August is if gets that far.
:p :p

A day of action targeted for any weekend around half term or Xmas WILL have the desired effect!
