guys listen, stop over complicating it.
BA mean to say you must have a f(ATPL) at least, and the reason for this is because they want to ensure once you meet the experience etc that you are actually able to obtain a full ATPL. I'm FR and have 1800 hrs and a UK JAR CPL- if I'm lucky enough to get the job, I'll unfreeze the ATPL with the LST done on the BA type rating (even those already typed on the a/c BA choose you for, will still do an LST). You only need a CPL to be FO as already mentioned, so you can't say that a ATPL with 1500 hrs TT is of any more use then a CPL holder with 1500TT if their both FO's - provided the CPL holder has done the ATPL theory and has the ability to upgrade whenever. So lets move on. Ps, glad the currency thing was cleared up for those being a bit hopeful in so much as saying a rating that expired 4 years ago is still current. Some guys mentioning they'd bring Lasors into the interview- I would love to see they guys face if you pulled that out. Mind you, you wouldn't have got an interview in the first place to shove lasors under their nose! Good luck everyone |
Hey Folks,
just a quick question about the online application. In the "Application Questions" section it asks a few questions about situations etc. At the end of each question, in brackets, they ask for "maximum 250 words". however, once you get to answering the question you can write up to 4000 words. which limit should I stick to????? |
I think 4 x 4,000 words is probably a bit aggressive for an online application form!
Perhaps it says 4,000 characters? |

oooookk, got it. sorry folks, it does say 4000 characters, not words.
don't hammer me folks... it's been a long day :ouch: now comes the hard bit... so much to say, so little space to say it in. cheers for the heads up nonetheless :ok: |
VJW....I hope your grammar was more accurate on your application.
:ok: |
Grammar on BA app vs prune, which one wins? Don't take 500 hrs to figure that one out!
Hit me where it hurts! Now I remember why I haven't been on here in ages. |
Re: Height Restriction
Cant believe they discrimate on youre bloody height!!!! Thought BA was equal opportunity now I can not apply!!! :ugh:Im am 4ft 12 so just missed it by 2 inch...
Im not a dwarf or midget as I am 2 inch above threshold (4ft 10 for one of them lot)....Nitemare this game... I have got Calden shoe which make me 5ft 3.5 inch but not sue if 5ft 2 is for barefoot not with my Caldens on...Bloody heavy shoes though good for engine failures!! forget trimming no need... Theres another place which make shoe for 5.5 inch extra tall so then im 5ft 5.5 but I think they may stand out at interview as my foot is size 13 (made up for lost height haha)...Clobber hoppers my grandma calls the, hahaha....have a look at link at give me help which one is better...PLEASE!!!!!:ugh: How to grow taller and increase height with our growing taller elevator shoes Calden Shoes w/ premium quality leather and large selection of styles |
I think 4 ft 12 is the same as 5 ft lol.
|
i think you'd be right!!!!
|
yes i no its equall but I think 4ft 12 sounds more taller than saying 5ft.. same as you say speed in car or plane in Killometers rather than MPH sounds faster but is the same...
It has advanatage for walk around as I walk under most fuselage with out ducking, makes it better for quick turn around...I can fit in over head compartment on a BAE146 to so dont play hide and seek with me haha := I play once this hide and seek donkey years ago and the team only found me last week when they look in the E an E bay but they found a skeleton in there with a necklace on saying 'Worlds Hide and Seek Champion 1985' hahaha just a joke that.... although I was smallest in my class at school I was best in pole vault and quite good at hi jump... |
Quite how the number 4 can sound larger than the number 5 is a mystery to me

A340 rider,
I would think BA are not discriminating against you. I would say that the height issue will be to do with pedal reach on their aircraft. If with your shoes on you are over 5ft 2" then I would apply and bring it up in the interview (if you are lucky enough to get that far) BA may then make you do a functionality test on the aircraft that you are destined for (i.e can you deflect the rudder to full left then full right) If you are already eligible to apply to BA then this would suggest you already operate either the Airbus or the Boeing. So I wouldn't see your height as being a problem. If I remember correctly the RAF had some weird arm reach test you had to whilst going through pilot selection. So even if you were the best pilot, if you're arms weren't long enough then you weren't taken on. It is all to do with the aircraft the RAF operate. Good luck! Right, now back to waiting patiently for DEP to open up! Odd Socks |
If you're short then you're fast-tracked into training or management!

Bit of a silly question (although I asked a silly question to madrid atc today requesting a visual approach and they granted it- so trying my luck again), but maybe someone will know. Does anyone one have an idea on time frame before people start getting calls or emails inviting them for an interview?
Will be informed via email, if we're unsuccessful in getting the interview. |
Odd Socks,
If the standard of questions asked on this thread over the last few days :ugh: is indicative of the quality of candidate with the right TR then I suspect it wont be long before BA have to open the gates a little wider to try and find the right stuff. Regards:ok: |
VJW,
some of the recruiters have had the last week of October cleared on their roster for interviewing - so depending on how soon after the website opened you submitted your application, you may get called quite soon. |
