BA and The Bond....
Anybody out there know the ins and outs of what happens if you're a BA cadet who wants to leave within a year of working on line? Does the bond kick in??
|
Don't know for a fact but considering the current financial situation, expect them to have a go. However, cadets who were chopped (even at Base) were never chased. Precedent maybe?
Edited to add to Captain Airclues comments. The cadet scheme is unlikely to be reintroduced for the foreseeable future. When it is, I would be very surprised if it is in the same form as in the past (ie. non-contributory). As far as bonds go, as the current package for new joiners at BA is somewhat less than competitive, there is consequently a greater chance of movement from BA to other companies than there has been in the past so perhaps expect some form of bond to be introduced following any type rating. If this is the case, it is likely to be quite rigidly enforced as BA have lost out (albeit rarely) in the past. |
great expectations
I don't think that you need to worry too much about this. It will be many years before BA operate a cadet scheme, if at all. If a cadet scheme is ever restarted then it will be a very different deal to the last one. Airclues |
Airclues..... that was a bit ' dont worry your pretty little head- ish '......
I was a cadet, so in theory am still bonded and just interested in all possibilities. |
I must admit, if I was still in my first five years in BA, IŽd be looking around too... Cathay or Emirates are looking for qualified people. Unfortunately, most of us have left it too late.

Sorry great expectations. As your profile says that you are a student, I assumed that you were a student.

Grass greener elsewhere already??

Hey tunneler...
Long time!!! I'm just having a good look around and trying to keep up my interest levels!!!! I fancy a shot on the 738 x |
Perhaps you'd like to tell us more about life in BA and why people are looking around?
|
I love my job and I like my base; but I think it'd be wicked fun to work for a younger company for a while - y'know - have a bit of good old fun............ nothing against BA at all........ but I'm just a youngster and I don't want to stifle myself with corporate B/S.

Antiquated boeing thingies??? No thanks!!! (Said very very much tounge in cheek)

Get out of BA free card.....
There was a guy once who left to become a priest and join the church. Because of the nature of this career change, BA decided they couldn't charge him and he got out free! So you could leave and become a nun!
But maybe you'd find celibacy a bit difficult? |
This is the chap GU mentions. It's a small world as his father used to be my boss prior to my aviation career...
