That’s in line with what the Czechs pay, a few variations on the same theme. What really gets me is the justification that the management uses to screw the pilots. The government appointed chief of CSA’s holding company was quoted as saying that we should be understanding of the difficulties they face and can’t expect to be paid the same as Delta or Air France. Sorry but couldn’t find the English translation..

Question from us, the lowly peons is: Do we not fly the same equipment on the same routes the same way with the same or more expensive tickets for the same money?

The answer is ….NO! We fly at 37% the average European wage, so in effect we are price dumping. Does our company really expect us to pull down everyone else because they can’t make ends meet? Is this in line with EU practice? Do the newcomers from behind the iron curtain have an unfair advantage? You bet! We at CSA are about to start our negotiations for a new contract. I believe the same to be true for LOT. Instead of going to look for greener pastures in your backyard, lets clean up our mess and even up the playing field.

How about this…the AEA calls for it,

I know the thread was about LOT so I don't want to screech about CSA, but in a strange way, we are so similar it's not funny. The language is very similar, the company is roughly the same size and the culture is very similar, so it's almost a carbon copy.

Hey, thanks for your imput guys, much appreciated.
I was just thinking of LOT as another way of getting into the airlines because i have a Polish Passport, but perhaps with a Polish passport, and Poland entering the EU, i could fly for another Euro Carrier?

Thanks again.

Sorry Aussie, but there is a periode of about two or four years until citizens of the new EU members are allowed to take up employemnt in one of the "old" EU countries. By the way it is the same the other way around.

So you will heave to wait. There might be some holes in this soft wall but I think as it seems to me that you have no airline experience, that probably no company in the "old" EU might be interested. Basically we have the same problem in Eurpe than you have in Oz, there are too many.

A reason why I make my money far away.

You might want to make a few phone calls to find out what the situation is, but my understanding was that Ireland, UK, Sweden and Denmark were without limits. The other EU countries have some kind of quota and you need to get a work permit. The good thing is that the newcomers don't (at least to my knowledge) have the same kind of restriction between themselves so you may consider getting the experience with a carrier from one of the new EU states.

Good Luck,

Hey, thanks again for your help, appreciated!
Yeah, i actually didnt realise that i could work in other contries such as sweeden and denmark with a polish passport....even with that 2 or 4 yr rule, i didnt know you could work in countries in the EU. Thanks

So who do you fly for Alatnariver?

Thanks!

LOT is not looking for any new pilots right now. They will be returning few airplanes soon. Good luck!
About the wages... low with very HIGH taxes.
