Contries to fly up to 65 yo? Which ones?
Hey everyone.
JAROPS allows some of us, those interested, to fly up to 65yo. I am just wondering how many of those countries in europe allow that. So IŽd like to hear from you all... in your country what is the maximum age you can fly... as a pro pilot? Regards |
Hi,
the only one (with the age of 65) I am aware of is Slovak republic. |
Horray!
sense at last from someone! Long live the Slovak Republic!!
|
Brazil also, as long as you can keep your medical
Cheers, Mork |
I think most EU countries allow you to fly until 65, the
only exceptions I can think of are France, hmm, and Italy. They will both be forced to change in the next few years as new age laws come into force. |
Had an American freighter crew come through Sydney a few years ago and I remember looking at their flight engineer and thinking, this one's got a bit of mileage on him. After the briefing I had a look at the gen dec and I swear to God he was 74 years old.
Reminds me of the old joke: Q. Charlie is 70 years old. How come he is still flying ? A. 3 ex wives is why..... Ho hum Heat |
It is intended to apply EU law on 'age discrimation'on 31 October 2006. At BA this law will enable all crew to remain until 60 and beyond with the provision of passing annual medicals. So I suppose in years to come you will start seeing a lot older crews. However, this act does not effect employees that are contracted to retire at 55 or 60 but gives them the option to work on. This applies to employees in all walks of life and seeing the pension fiasco continue it just as well for many.

Are you allowed to overfly countries with the age restriction.
What about a divert or accident upon landing. 60 too old to take off or land what about overflights? |
Heatseeker,
The age 60 rule in the US does not apply to FE's...only pilots. That FE may very well have been 74. |
Does any body know the age limit in Jordan?
|
I know for a fact that CAAFI in the fiji islands allows pilots to fly up to 6o yrs as skipper and after that as an F/O till 65.
|
Austria allows 65 (as long as the copilot is younger than 60).
Italy and France prohibit overflight, all other countries allow it. I doubt that any existing Austrian company would hire a 60-year-old except at very bad conditions. |
No age limit in Australia due discrimination laws. Qantas has numerous over 60's on the 737, 767 and A330. Due to overflight problems no over 60 on 747 or 747-400 [except as F/Os]
No new over 57's allowed on A330 due soon to be overflights as the bus goes international. Six month medicals with stress ECGs on bike though! |
CAA Pakistan might be extending the age to 62 in 2005.
