Info on GB Airways
I have an interview with GB Airways, and was wondering if anyone has info on the selection process, salaries, time to command and general working conditions etc.
:ok: |
Selection process is pilot+HR person interview, group excercise, sim check (used to be 737, not sure now) and away you go. PPJN.com has good coverage of the specs.
Starting salary is around £39K, with £2.40 an hour allowances, pension is 10% from them in a money purchase. It tracks a selected group of similar airlines but you will find another current thread on how they are being a bit reluctant to pay it this year. Time to command would be at least 8 years for a new joiner but of far more importance is what happens to GB in 2008 when the BA franchise agreement is up for renewal. Options? Continue as is, but BA's BALPA won't like it. Go it alone, sinking ship time. Turn orange, hmmmm. Go Virgin, fanciful. Who knows, except to say that the pilots will be the last to! Working conditions, good. Rostering has its moments but crewing is generally good. 775 hours yearly limit (that the management want to increase) and 80 per month. Lots of long trips so normally 14 or so days plus standbys. |
