Dual ratings
I am currently working as an instrument rated commercial helicopter pilot on a 14 on/ 14 off schedule. During my off time I am working on my fixed wing licenses, planning to go up to twin commercial instrument.
My question is this: How likely is it to land a dual rating job somewhere in the US? Either in the same company or working in two different companies? Would a 14 heli / 14 fixed wing kind of setup for two different operators by possible or would it eat into crew rest periods? Also, would any of my heli time work in my favour when it comes to hiring, or would I be just another kid on the block when it comes to experience. (doing a lot of 135 work, turbines, IFR) Thanks Timts |
I would think your employer would not be too happy if you start work elsewhere.
As legally you can only fly 100 hours per 28 days, your primary employer may wish to reserve all your available hours for himself! |
