Emirates and Mininum Hours

Just approaching 2500 hrs (2000hrs on Boeings) TT and very interested in a move to EK. I see from their website that 2500 hrs is the bare mininum, do EK recruit to this or do they prefer higher hours say around the 3500+ mark ?

5.000 hrs. on MD 80 and B 767 300ER a/c and haven't been considered.
Wish you luck

How much jet time Glonass?

I have 6500+ but only 2500 jet and not yet called.

Emirates have a high level of experience on their files at the moment due to the downturn in aviation so really only pilots with fairly high hours and generally command time get a look-in.

Back then +/- 5000TT, 4000 Jet, half B732 and B763 all on the right seat with some light-twin before and some plane spotting previous to all that... ;)

Can confirm that Emirates are, at the moment, very keen on people with Public Transport jet command time.

A look through the flight deck staff magasine of joiners in the last 12 months shows a fairly high percentage of ex Captains.

Min hours for command went up after the Gulf Air A320 crash and there is a possibility it may go up again (I am told).

Average total hours for co-pilots is something in the order of 8000!

Taking full advantage (understandably) of the downturn elsewhere in the world.

Out of curiosity how would 15,000 hrs+ with 1300 on 737-800 in command, 1200hrs L1011 copilot, 3000 hrs DC9 command, 7000 hrs MD 83 in command, 1400 HS 748 left seat and just checked out on the A340 left seat with six Trans Atlantic crossings. Would Emirates look at my CV, I'm 50 yrs old?

NG Captain,

No, you are too old and thus do not meet the current EK recruitment requirements.

Sector Safe,

As far as hours is concerned, the basic minimum hours is not competetive with the current crop of applicants. However, if you have you application in the system and update it regularly, when you do become competetive you application will be looked at first because it has been in the system the longest.

Wet Power,

As far as increasing the command hours; there are no current plans.
