I would like to say that the post I wrote above is just a copy of a long twitter thread I saw and I have no vested interest in this dispute. I am however the son of a pilot who worked for BA and its associates for almost thirty years and he would be heart broken about what has happened to his company. Best of luck to you all.

Spot on!!
I retired from BA 2 years ago, where I was fortunate to be part-time on a 'high efficiency' fleet. I had a good level of seniority which certainly helped, but JSS is good for BA, but REALLY BAD for pilots.
Twosugers and tubbylinton have done a superb job of explaining the machinations and duplicity of BA management - while explaining the dreadful workings of 'the delta'. There explanations are top notch and have even answered a few questions that I had! I often see and hear the insults directed at BA pilots and think - what a load of complete garbage! Written either from some twisted form of jealousy or complete ignorance. Due to the really awful degree of dishonesty, nastiness, and disinterest displayed by BA management, BA was certainly a rather difficult environment if you expected any degree of honesty and integrity. However, the VAST majority of the BA pilots I flew with were excellent! Good fliers, good company, good people! That is FACT! |
Evening Sporran. Hope you’re enjoying retirement. Will be there soon. How’s the golf handicap coming on?!

BA pilots Delta ballot result ??
...
Does anyone know the result of the recent BA pilots ballot on whether to meekly accept continuation of the Delta Pay Cut ? Which is apparently expected soon to be 9 %. TIA LFH ... |
I do not accept the delta:
Agree 99.4% Disagree 0.6% Turnout 84% (based on only a 5 day polling window) It was a consultation rather than a ballot. |

* Virgin are reversing some of their scheduling changes in their 2022 pay deal. ** The recent agreement at Ryanair means pay restoration will be accelerated, with a view to full restoration by April 2023. *** KLM has a pay cut related to government loans. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....1fc9cd8ae.jpeg |

Permanent Delta and gloves off ?
...
Idol - Thanks for the Delta ballot result. It seems BA management have taken the gloves off, if only to put their fingers in their ears while they publicly express their view that the Delta pay cut for pilots is permanent for the time being. Less than impressive video blogs by the boss and patronising emails from the new IR man suggest BA firmly intends to keep the Delta. That's gone down like a lead balloon with the pilots and with Balpa, so options are no doubt being considered. According to the Yorkshire Post the new IR Zar hails from the Gorbals, where I am told the debating tool of first choice for the thrice-armed is ... the 'hof-brick.' Heathrow has just imposed further flight restrictions to end of October and BA has cancelled another 10,000 flights and publicly warned of travel chaos until next March. According to our mole, scheduling is a shambles. The inability of HAL and BA to hire staff and BA's failure to manage, organise and motivate them properly, suggests we may be in for a self-inflicted long cold winter, even before the heating goes off. I expect the few remaining customers will be mightily unimpressed. LFH |
Do you anticipate this to affect recruiting? I’m not aware of anyone hearing back yet, over month since the applications opened.

Wasn’t BALPA still negotiating with BA to remove it? I haven’t seen any outcome yet in the Log. First assessments are running now, with more to come in September. |
What does it mean ?
I was sure I understood English until I read this sentence. What does it mean? BA's brand-new emergency Industrial Relations Czar was interviewed in 2013 by the Yorkshire Post - https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/busi...keeney-1867209 ... Inter alia, apparently he comes from the Gorbals. The Gorbals was a notoriously rough area of Glasgow, now rebuilt and no doubt genteel to boot, but previously a leper colony, where it was said that any verbal discussion was best supported by a swift and sneaky blow to the head with a half-brick. " Twice-armed is he who thinks his cause is just, but thrice-armed is he who gets his blow in first." ... I know there are plenty of variations on that (Shakespeare, I think) motto. It's the only one I remember. I got the impression that the afore-mentioned 'corporate communications' included an implied corporate half-brick. aka 'PFO' in yoof-speak. A clear impression that BA intends that the Delta pay reduction will remain, for all BA pilots, for the forseeable future. HTH. .... LFH |
Thanks LFH 👍🏼

Has the BA Delta Pay Cut gone?
Following a consultative ballot around July/August last year when BA pilots overwhelmingly voted against continuing the Delta, I heard that negotiations continued for months.
I now have heard that it was agreed he Delta was to end from the start of 2023. Is this true? While this is very important for BA pilots, there are others who worry how the Delta might affect their salary if they apply to join BA. |
