Star Air FOs recruitment (EU CGN based)

Hi all,

May you please someone shed some light on the company itself, conditions, roster, wages etc?
Really appreciate it

fulminn 14th Jul 2021 00:42

by the time you wrote the post, they probably filled all the positions, did you notice that the entire industry is on the knees? You are the only one questioning yourself about all the above matters. This make sense in a no pandemic scenery in which night flight on 30+yo planes sucks, but now is new fashion.
I can imagine you refusing the job, because the conditions are not the one you expected, always behind the plane!

ebro96 14th Jul 2021 07:28

By the time I wrote the post those positions were still there (and as we speak). Otherwise what is the point of asking that question?
First of all, it is known Star Air is prob the best cargo company around EU to work with, first cus they only operate around Europe, secondly but not less important wages and roster. Now, all this was pre-covid.
Already working for a major LOCO airline, flying even during the Pandemic... so what are u gonna tell me about it. :)
The ONLY point of the post is just to try on getting some info about the company (whats wrong with that?) for myself or for someone else, it does not matter.
So imagine how hard it was to get some info that I had to come to this Forum full of crappy proud unemployed pilots with the hope that probably SOMEONE would have a answer (did not have big hopes tho, and I wasnt wrong), which they only answer post inna negative way trying to b funny/smartass. :)
If you had time to write 500 posts in PPrune, well dear, seems u have too much time off. Try on getting a 9-5 Job and leave those posts empty so at least, prob someone could shed some light on the answers asked.
P.D. Been inna Pandemic does not mean you have to accept any work conditions, one mens food is another men poison.

It is a good company to work, quite stable. Long time to command, very long time.

ebro96 14th Jul 2021 10:09

Heard smthng similar, yeah. Quite interesting also to know how the “double taxation” would work on gross salaries.
Thanks Banana Joe for ur input.

fulminn

pre covid I’d rather work for Star Air then for 95% of all European airlines. Now it is probably 99%.

fulminn 21st Jul 2021 07:48

Oh yes, flying a 30 years olsd 767 at night doing minimum rest daytime is the best you can get from life...be honest

Haxe 21st Jul 2021 08:32

Nah Fulmin dont be that rude.

Times changed as conditions changed.

Climb150 21st Jul 2021 11:43

If you already know it's the best cargo company in Europe why ask? If your already happy in your job why ask? If someone else wants to know let them come on here and ask.

SaulGoodman 21st Jul 2021 23:29

FWIW: I did many years of night freight for a similar company with a similar roster and similar conditions. It was a very easy lifestyle as long as you are on a wide body and not on a feeder ATR/ATP/737. 7/7 is great. Express freight is always on time. Let fulmin say what he wants but I’d much rather would fly 767 for Star then by far the most pax operators in Europe!

I applied years ago from lowcost FO and now again as I'm out of work due to covid (laid off from eastern european national carrier) but so far haven't heard anything. 7000 hours on 737/777/787 FO and speak german. I wonder if the position has been filled. Someone told me they prefer danish nationals or have to know someone inside the company - don't know if that's true.

No reply no nothing besides StarAir people screening LinkedIn profiles…

Getting more difficult to keep the faith..

zerograv 2nd Aug 2021 11:25

Is it adviseable to have a LinkedIn profile ?

Denti 2nd Aug 2021 12:50

Yes and no. In general employers will always try to check social media profiles of applicants, that is now the world we live in. Without a professional social media profile others might get the invite. That said, a LinkedIn profile might get you uninvited as well, had that happen with Ryanair when my previous employer went bankrupt and i replied to their mass invite for a road show. Once they checked my profile they, admittedly surprisingly politely, suggested that i might not be a good fit for them as a former long time union rep.

But having a LinkedIn profile might prevent them from checking for drunken party pictures on facebook and instagram or your daily status messages on Whatsapp.

Denti

Many thanks for your imput !

Probably progressing to a future (maybe already present) where interviews won't be needed. Simpler and cheaper just to check data from face and/or insta ...

Apologies for the thread drift.

I was told that too - let's say they prefer pilots who live locally, (and nothing wrong with that) Mostly quite short sectors - tiring stuff in the middle of the night, but that aside, reputedly one of the best companies to work for

Hello, got a question regarding salary levels for new hired. Maybe someone is able to answer.

How does Star Air actually handle the classification in the salary scale?
Is experience (even widebody) taken into account when hiring or does everyone start at, say, the first salary level regardless of how many hours of previous experience they have or not?

Cheers,

flyingmeatball 12th Aug 2021 18:14

Did anyone get invited?

MostAnnoying 13th Aug 2021 23:47
