Working in China!
As someone who will very shortly be looking for work. A320 Captain with 700 PIC on type China is likely to be my only option for a few years. Can anyone shed some light on what it’s like to work there, language barriers, Companies to avoid/target, recruitment processes, basically anything useful you can think of. I have worked in the ME before but never the Far East and before CV hit I never thought I would be looking for a new job so my knowledge of the Chinese market is very limited.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice. |
As a heads up, not sure if you have looked in the past, but with that amount of PIC time you are probably looking at a return to the RHS with any Chinese airline.
|
Oh right. I did not think China took non nationals in to the RHS. I had a quick look most 320 operators seem to be asking for 500 PIC on type.

As far as I'm aware (and I might be wrong) of the substantial number of redundant Thomas Cook pilots who looked at China, not one actually went. Took too long, too many obstructions etc. Try Jetstar Japan.

Have you read the book?

Maybe I was only looking at the heavy jets for direct entry captains, but I'm sure most DEC big jets were requiring a few thousand hours PIC. Happy to be wrong, hope it works out for you.

Read the book. As matter of fact GCR themselves become a bit of a secret sweet spot for some time before covid hit, on the pay vs. off-days scale but lately there are verified accounts they treated the foreigners the worst during the pandemic years. Also the HNA group has not yet learned to respect a written contract.
SCAL, Xiamen, CZ, Spring - not pretty but years ahead of the famous team. |
