BA Cityflyer First Officer Life
I saw that BA Cityflyer is hiring again, I was just wondering what are working conditions like for the FO's in terms of rostering, do they get much overnights?, how many days off compared to on, are FO's treated well by management i saw on some old forums working conditions and
morale werent great so? The other main thing was on the site it says about 2 years contract and then onto mainline, is this guranteed or a false promise? and is it written into any contracts as I would like to go BA mainline in the future and progress onto longhaul thanks |
My understanding is that you are guaranteed an interview for mainline. You avoid the application form hoop jumping. That’s it. Actually, the application form is largely the same. Just saying....:oh: |
Would you also no longer have to do a sim assesment then for BA mainline?
|
You avoid the application form, that’s it. If you can fly a Jungle Jet properly, there’s no reason you can’t fly a Boeing. Enjoy the sim. ;) |
so Cityflyer FO's still have to do the sim assesment for mainline thats interesting

morale werent great so? I can’t comment for anyone else but I’m happy, nice captains and cabin crew, supportive training department and a fun aircraft to fly on a very varied route network. It’s hard work and there are some very long days but I think that’s probably true of anywhere. I’ve never been rostered more than a four sector day. Finally with regards to mainline I can confirm what others have said, there’s definitely not a practical flow through. After two years (post line check I believe) you are guaranteed an interview but that’s it, however the company are trying to encourage more people to want to stay at BACF for longer and have promised lifestyle improvements when the new rostering system finally arrives.... |
Thanks for your reply, would you say the payscale on pilotjobsnetwork is accurate also? and do you have any tips on interview stage?
I wouldnt mind staying there longer than 2 years its just in the long run I would like to do longhaul flying also so a way into mainline would be good |
Hey guys,
How is it for Captains? Roster? Similar to whats posted above? How about EDI base? TIA |
Is LCY Captains only for landing? If so I presume that means FO’s always land at the destination and Captains never land anywhere but LCY? |
Anyone got any info on the assessment day?

Lol. They have been promising the same thing for the past 13 years!! The new rostering system is for them to maximise our efficiency...... not to give a better life!!! .....and still they get enough people and no line drawn in the sand by current pilots/BALPA. You get what you fight for and deserve I guess.... CP |
Does anybody have any idea about time to command?
