Had a look and not seen too much regarding trip lengths on the 777. Anyone know a typical trip length for the Caribbean and US??

Almost all the Caribbean trips are 1 night (min rest) , as a newbie expect to
do 5 maybe even 6 trips a month !! ,

In addition to Riskybis’ accurate comments expect to do reserve every other month for at least a year to eighteen months whilst you catch up with the reserve points averaged over the rest of the fleet and (with the advent of JSS) work every weekend outside of leave for at least ten years or longer (dependent on long it takes you to reach 50%+ on your respective long haul status list). Don’t be suckered in by the glamour nowadays guys and girls, it’s a bit of a crapshoot being junior on Long Haul and you may even be better off lifestyle wise on SH.

If your new in BA I doubt you’ll see much of the Caribbean for the first few years. Gatwick trips very popular. Nice forum name by the way. :-)

Depends on the length/destination, 3Greens. Gatwick trips are not so popular that they’re not achievable, even at the bottom of the status list. There’s a guy just below me for instance on the status list (76% or so) whose May line is comprised entirely of Gatwick trips. Very valid point that the six day Mauritius and Punta Cana trips are going to be like gold dust however and that the only way you’re gonna see those is if you luck out on reserve if someone literally cannot drag themselves off their death bed.

There’s only one 3 day Caribbean, BGI. And even that’s normally 4 day. Oh, and the current 3 day CUN once a week.

But UVF is 5 day with shuttle, ANU is 4 or 5 day, sometimes with shuttle, sometimes without, PUJ is 4 or 5 day, and CUN is normally 4 or 5 day.

Junior FOs can get them (maybe not PUJ too much!), have done a few with new 2 stripers, often by swapping tho.

Lgw trips are certainly achievable for newer 777 folk. ANU and UVF have become far less desirable for many since hotel changes over the last couple of years. BGI varies. If you want PUJ then you require an act of God. CUN has been a very senior trip but it may change now with the loss of the additional credit and the 3 day rotation.

Places like SJO, BDA and LIM filter quite far down and you are welcome to that late JFK...

MCO and TPA seem to have a group of mid-seniority regulars who must have a Crickets loyalty card by now.

My biggest beef (lgw regular) is the lack of bunks. Only the really long stuff (LIM, MRU) gets an A/C with proper rest facilities. But then that’s a 777 gripe that affects LHR too.

Depends what you want - it’s a worldwide fleet. That’s one of the things that makes it a great fleet to be on as if say you hate the Far East, there’s plenty of US stuff to get your teeth into.

As as a general rule, the senior trips are the SIN, PUJ, EZE, CPT, MLE, MRU of this world. The upper half also hoover up the majority of the high credit 3 day/3 crew work. Plenty of good stuff available towards the bottom though - SAN/LAS are achievable at up to 80% from the top. SIN/SYD more junior than that.

Swapping also allows a huge huge amount of control over your lifestyle. The main thing I struggled with in my first 18 months was nearly continuous weekend work. If you’re about to join/considering an offer on the 777 PM and I’m very happy to send you example so of the bottom 5% rosters. Plenty of DEPs coming onto the 777 so you won’t stay on the bottom for long.

As others have said, if you want variety, there is no better fleet probably in many airlines in the world.

Lots of east coast coast and a bit of Middle East for the junior. São Paulo, Shanghai, Beijing and Houston seem to feature a fair bit too, but you will get the odd sweet trip to the Caribbean and Far East, and even the odd Mauritius and Male.

Weekends will feature too, and you’ll be working hard, but it’s a great place to be.

Sounds like a job for someone under 30 with no life whatsoever ......working all these weekends , waiting for seniority to mature.

It seems like the longer Nassau trips can go quite far down. They are 6 day trips with a shuttle. I think I’ve even seen a 7 day in April, although there may have been sector swapping involved.
