SAS Mainline
Morning folks, I have an assessment with SAS in Oslo in the coming weeks having applied through their “open application”. I was just wondering if anybody has more information regarding the assessment process, and any information regarding life as a 320/1 F/O at SAS, pay, roster, general ts&cs. As a relatively low hour F/O in the U.K, the opportunity to go to a legacy carrier seems like an opportunity I shouldn’t miss. Any advice and information is welcome, thanks in advance :ok: |
You are going to fly the 737 if based in Oslo, at least for the next few years. Fleet renewal in progress to 320. It´s very hard to change base, so be sure you want to be based in Oslo.
PPJN is fairly uptodate on the terms. And Scandi language is still mandatory, but guess you are Norwegian? |

So it all depends, if you want to live in Norway in the future, it's probably your best option. Pay might not be great in the start, but if it gets you where you want to be, that is the most important aspect. |

The pay is quite bad, hence most of the guys joining now are guys straight out of flight school. |

As SAS are currently on their way to get rid of their 737 fleet in favour of the A320 you don´t have to worry about having to switch to the Boeing - they want and prefer A320 pilots!. The assessment is done on the worst sim I have seen and been in. It´s a fixed base that feels (and looks) like it was built by a drunk chimp. Entry level salaries are around 3500 EUR before scandinavian tax (about 30%) and they will work you hard (this according to themselves).

SAS does not necessarily preferring eighter A320 or 737-pilots. If you are the right guy, with the correct attitude and skills, they will hire you without any typerating at all. Scandipilots with 1000 hrs+ can expect interview. In the future, we will most likely see SAS recruiting lowtimers straight out of flightschools, due to the relative high number of pilots retiring the next 10+ years. |

Be aware if you are seeking job in Scandiland, they have already hired 300 new pilots since 2013 so the way to the right seat is a long one. I believe it will be direct entry captains before the newest pilots gets their upgrade due to the low level of experience of the pilots joining now. But that is still at least 5-10 years away and only a good guess of mine as they are quite commited to the senority list as of now.

I'm sorry, but this add on the SAS Career site is for the SAS Connect, and not Main line. Regarding the Connect T/Cs, don't worry, it's low salaries, variable roster (not commutable) and with a season flexibility option which is a one way agreement for the best for SAS. If you're a Swedish, or Stockholm based, it's possible to accept the T/Cs. But I would stay away if you're not already a Stockholm based pilot.

Here's the Salary, it's in SEK. The different steps are; 1-2 years, 3-4 years and so on. If you're a direct entry captain then add 19.000SEK. You'll receive roughly 10.000SEK on top of this, thanks to duty hours payment. Season flexibility is, as far as I understand, possible for SAS with just the next months roster release, degrade your hire% down with 15% during 5 months. Regarding an upgrade to mainline, this is not possible. It's a completely different seniority list and the list for re-hires into mainline is quite long (roughly 450 pilots are waiting to be re-hired). |

Any new info about SAS Connect A320 jobs?
I applied for A320 FO position in CPH. I saw the TC and salary does not seem the best. Could somebody give more realistic info about roster, salary, lifestyle, base change possibility, upgrade time and assessment procedure? Thanks! |
