Do they take B787 DEC? How long for the upgrade from FO 787 to CPT 787?

Banana Joe 23rd Jun 2019 21:00

The bare minimum is 500 hours in the company. Depending of course on your level of experience. And remember, you're a foreigner.

Upgrade time on 737

Hello lady's and gents

Soo.. I am looking at the option to go to LOT on the 737. I have 4500tt and 1700 jet plus a bunch of PIC on smaller turboprop/piston.

I am after the job that gives me the fastest PIC time on s bigger jet. Is this it? How long will it take?
No that Ryanair has dried up for a while, wizzair seems to be the way to go or LOT (not sure about this but sigma advertisement says fast track PIC).
The thing here is wizzair pays like **** so looking for the best option.

Thanks

Watch out for 737 choice. They're hiring but only in aticipation of receiving new ac. Those who chose 737 are waiting.

Hey all,

Haven't found anywhere - is there a language requirement? I know LOTs operating out of BUD these days too, but I'm still surprised to see a thread about a Polish airline and no language requirements mentioned, considering how much the Poles love their language (not a dig, just an observation from my time in the country).

Thanks!

Banana Joe 3rd Aug 2019 21:20

No language requirement.

Hi again, anyone has an idea of what is the wait time to go from FO on the 787 to Captain on the 787?

thanks

Has anyone been to an assessment recently? There was one in July

hey guys, i have a question ,
now i'm Egyptian Pilot used to work for Egyptair, i'm married to a polish and now i live in Lodz, Poland.
i quit my job in egypt 1 month ago as i had to move with my wife due to family issues, i'm thinking to convert to EASA and try apply for LOT or other airline with a base close to Poland.
i've 4700 hours as FO on the B738
now the question, is it worth the headache of EASA conversion and ATPL exams, ? will i be able to get into any airlines ? like LOT ? , well , let's be realistic, i'm Arab, so would there be any sort of preference for Europeans / non-arabs ? shall i try with the EASA and apply ? or cut it short and go somewhere else in Africa or Asia ?
Thanks Folks,

Hi,

In LOT even the Hungarian crew are treated as second class, so my answer would be to stay away (money is not that great, either...). Converting to EASA wouldn't help you much, in my opinion, as most of the operators require an unrestricted EU passport, 5 year background check, etc. As the market is now in Europe i would definitely look at commuting options from Asia/ME spending only your off time with your family in Poland.

Cheers

Dufo 7th Oct 2019 12:29

If you are planning (willing) to work and not live off social support, do EASA conversion. Unlike at some other places, you won't get discriminated for being an Arab in EU, it might actually be easier for you to get hired.
Good luck!

Thanks booze for the advice, actually i'd rather be closer to my family than having alot of money, also maybe they will not accept my temporary residence even thou i have a work permit but we will see, and yes iam looking at options from Asia/ME as well, thanks again, cheers

i hope it would be easy to get hired, im actually only worried about the recruitment process more than anything else, if i pass this then i will be fine, thanks Dufo for you advice, cheers.

I would expect LOT to be the least welcoming carrier in Poland for foreigners. Plenty of other options there fortunately, usually better than LOT anyway (despite being on the lower end in Europe - I'm talking Ryr, Wizz, Enter etc.). Then there are a couple of executive gigs in Warsaw, and if you dig that kind of work, you could also try your local flight school - Bartolini - they're pretty international, in need of instructors I hear, and definitely could help a bit with the conversion if you agreed to work there (I'm not affiliated with them btw.). If family is more important than money, there's nothing better than working in your town and being home every evening.

Banana Joe 7th Oct 2019 16:58

Forget about Enter Air if you don't speak Polish. I can tell by direct experience.

Michael S 7th Oct 2019 18:28

LOT is a very discrminating place. They discriminate nationals over better born nationals, so usually have no problem with discriminating foreigners, not to even mention non-whites.
As mentioned before, in your circumstances there are more suitable places to be.
Actually your qualifications and place of origin might be very well looked after in JerStory.

Thanks Folks,

The fact of the matter is that you will need an EASA license, either now or in the future.

As someone living in Poland who has converted an ICAO to EASA you should apply for the exams as soon as possible. With your hours and ATP license you can self-sponsor and go directly for the exams (1068zł). You can only do this while your rating is still valid. The practical isn't so cheap or easy but you have plenty of time to plan that once the exams are out of the way.

I think there are better options and to be honest as a foreigner in Poland even with EU passport it's a very discriminating place. But to each his own..

Come on, my friend got in with another non-Polish guy. There were 4 Polish pilots in that group a none of them passed... And from what I’ve heard, there are pilots from the Baltic States, Belgium, Germany, Italy, UK, Czechia and Slovakia. Doesn’t look like they are discriminating anybody...

Not in recruitment but in day to day life. It may not be totally obvious to the outside observer but it exists. This is known for decades.
