EasyJet base moves
If I went for the LGW/LTN DEC job on offer with Easy, any ideas how quickly you could get a move to any base closer to home, or am I likely to be stuck there for quite some time?
Ta! |
It depends on which base you want to move to. There is a transfer list that you will join for the base of your choice, and then it's just a matter of waiting. Some bases have a large list (BRS), and some are almost empty (LYS).
The lists aren't seniority based, they're ordered by date of requesting the transfer. |
Epsilon when you say large (BRS), how large is that and one assumes if you are on the bottom it can take years?
Thanks. |
Deano as P1 you’re not getting a sniff of Bristol any time in the next ten years, that’s how large. And I’d say that’s even optimistic.

10 years is a bit pessimistic! But yes, it is years, not months. When you join, the transfer lists are free for anyone to view. I've just had a look at the BRS (Capt) list and the person at the top has been waiting since mid 2017.
It is all very dynamic though, if they add an aircraft a lot of the list will disappear quickly. When Lyon first opened, there were 50+ people on the list for a base of 3 aircraft. It would have looked like a 10 or 15 year wait, but now, a few years later, it's empty. |

I joined 11 months ago after Monarch went tits up.
I'm Gatwick based and expected to get back up to Manchester in about 2 but probably 3 years based on the size of the transfer list. Fortunately, an additional 5 aircraft are going there over the winter, so am now back in February. It was a bit of a calculated risk. I think easy had plenty of scope to grow there. Good luck with your decision. |
As it was said already, it all depends on how much the desired base is going to grow.
There are bases with currently 5/10 years wait that are not expected to receive many planes in the close future. Especially commuter bases. But then again, things in easy can change very quickly. |
If I could add a few q’s.... Can you go on the transfer list for multiple bases? If you then get a transfer to your second choice base, will you keep your spot for your N1 choice? If you opt for part time, are you still progressing on the transfer list as if fulltime? Opting for part time is possible after 2 years in your base, will you always get it? Do you have to re apply after your part time period of 1 or 2 yrs? Thanks, |

Thanks for the replies. So from what I am gathering from other questions, I cannot join and request part time immediately, I'm going to have to work at least two years before I can even apply to go part time?

You can apply straight away (the bidding for part time is every september/october, and if successful starting the next april), on a new base you might even get it, but on an established base not many chances. On some contracts the first year you might be limited to fly a random full time roster, but again that depends on the country. |
Thanks very much for your help!

We then have a waiting list based on social criteria + time in company. |
