Xiamen Airline Captain 737

I was wondering as many agencies are offering the same job offer and same salary benefits if one is better than the others.

i applied for the 737 captain job and received mails from CAE, Grandwings,Paramount aviation, AeroPersonnal Global, brookfield, wasinc Int...

would appreciate if some of you guys already dealt with any of them and if there are differences ? Maybe some give you more tips or have better connection with the company

thanks for the feedback.

happy Landings

Hi everyone, I just came from Xiamen, from my assesment. For those wondering how that is:

I did it throug "Grand wings" Ken Chen (chinese) is a great guy, he took care of every thing and was as helpfull as he could. I arrived Xiamen's hotel, nobody spoke english either in the hotel nor in the city, Got my assesment day, no previous interview. Same morning they told my I would go for the assesment at 5PM. Reached the building (5minutes walkong distance) and waited a few minutes for Chief pilot to come. Introduced himself and two firs oficer that would help in the sim. Gave as the profile of the exercises to be flown and 5 minutes to take a look a the area charts (sids, stars, apps, etc.)
Maneuvers: Windshear on take off, steep turns, non ILS app with a map faillure, (VOR DME Rwy 05), go arround on the mins, engine fail on G/A, IlS APP, A visual app circuit, and RTO. All in 30Kts cross wind, raw data and handfly (No A/P nor A/T.)
Considerations: Your first officer doesnt speak english and may screw things a little (not on purpose of course) so you have also to keep a eye on what he is doing. And since he doesnt speak english if he or you screw it up, its really difficult to strait thinks up again.
If you stay strictly technical, things are OK. I mean, Gear up order, is gear up. But dont try to explain anything because they dont understand english. And the operation is in meters, so you better check the convertion table.
In my group, out of 9 only 1 passed. (not me).
Place is nice although english is not used anywhere.
Hope this info is usefull to someone, Good Luck!!!

xiamen airlines

Hi guys, for those interested, I ve recently been in an asessment with xmn airlines.

On the other hand, Place (xiamen) is nice to live but: NO ONE SPEAKS ENGLISH ANYWHERE!!!

Just reached the hotel for my interview and no one there spoke a word of english. Spent a day there waiting a call from someone from the company and nothing. Day after that, my representative called at noon saying I would have my sim check that evening.

When arrived at the xmn building, A couple of Instructors aproached and told as they would conduct the check with the help of a couple of FO' there. Gave as the charts, a guide of what they wanted as to fly and 5 minutes to memorize.

Windshear on take of. (It was after v1, tail winshear and passing 500' head wind shear).
Steep turns
Non ILS app (map mode faillure)
RWY 05 VOR/DME app.
GA on the minimums
Engine fail on GA
ILS app
Visual app
RTO.

All this was done in 33kts side wind raw data and NO map. Added that the F/O doesnt speak English. He is OK with all Standard callouts but nothing else. I mean: Gear Up, flaps 5, etc is ok, but: Would you please set the hold as per the chartN#...FORGET IT. No Coloquial English. And they prefer really soft landings. Plus they work altitudes in meters and the radios are done in chinese by the firs officer who will tell you what the ATC wants.

For Info out of 9 only 1 passed. (not me).
If accepted, All Toff's and ldgs' are done by the captain. Chinese FO' fly only above 10K unless with instructor.

Hope the Info is useful to anyone!!! GOOD LUCK!

Are they actually able to land? Do they practice captain incapacitation over there?

Sounds like an absurdly difficult sim check, just for the sake of it.

What part of it?

Hi all. For those that have recently been through the process. How long from application to call-up for assessment?

jv1980 1st Dec 2018 00:04

Well it all depends how busy they are... what agency are you working with ?

FalseGS 1st Dec 2018 13:02

I did my assessment in September and didn't really have any language issues in the city. Then again, I'm bit of a loner so that's probably why it didn't really matter.
The application breezes through until the medical when the CAAC start getting involved. And then it slows to almost a grinding halt.
You just sit and wait for the medical checks to be verified, certified and released. That takes almost 3 months. Then they have to verify your license. That's the stage I am at and it is long unending wait.
If you do apply, give it 7-9 months. It's like having a premie.

All 737 recruiting is now ceased. They still are recruiting on the 787 for typed 777, 787 or 747.

do you have to be in country for all of that? Or can you fly in and fly out while they get their stuff sorted out?
