Austrian Airlines

Hi!

I just have a couple of questions regarding OS:

- are they currently hiring experienced FO's (I do speak German)?
- what's the roster?

Tnx!

Hi!

Yes they are.
The Roster is strongly depending on your fleet of course. On the LR fleet (you can't join directly), very nice and lots of days off.
On short range sometimes six days on, one off, and another six on. Also a lot of nightstops, so don't expect to be home every night.
Otherwise a very nice company, with a big need of pilots.

Same goes for all other LH-Group airlines by the way. If you're speaking German, also look at Swiss, Edelweiss, Eurowings, Condor, ...!
Just for your consideration.

Would in your opinion a B1 level be enough for those carriers?. I'd imagine they require more like a B2/C1 :ugh:

It says "fluent" in German for Swiss, I am not actually sure if they specify any level for it. We have a couple of guys who are Swedes/Australians/Britons who all speak ok-ish German but prefer English on the line. I guess it'll prob come down to doing all the screening in German and if they think you're good enough that's that. Also, German isn't German here, it'll be with a heavy Swiss-accent, kind of like English in Scotland I guess ;-)
Lots of our french-speaking/italian-speaking Swiss colleagues have good, but not fluent German.

Just to be fair, some fleets work a lot, but esp. the layovers are often very attractive pattern. 3 legs on day one, 2 legs on day two, 1 leg on day three happens regularly. Puts things in perspective. OS short haul is prob like most airlines' rosters nowadays in Euroland.
Long haul is another ball game though, lots of days off.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know the retirement age for Pilots at AUA?
