Boeing Company pilots hired as scabs???
 
Rumour has it that a certain scandinavian 787 operator is about to utilise Boeing Company pilots, because a bunch of their own pilots won't renew their contract until they get some industry-standard decent T and C's.

It may be legal, but does the Boeing Company think it's right to interfere in a social dispute with one of it's customers? Do their pilots want this? Do they even know what they're getting into?

Twice a year they keep announcing an imminent mass-shortage of pilots in order to send a signal to aspiring candidates to get their licenses in order to flood the market. Worse T&Cs means lower costs, potentially resulting in more airplanes sold.

They are not scabs, not yet anyway.

CCL, also a recruiter for Korean, recruits pilots for "Boeing". Of course the REAL Boeing pilots have issue with this as they are fighting for a contract. Truth be told, Boeing does build great airplanes but they are a ruthless employer.

An Ex Dragon Air guy got hired by CCL as a "Boeing" pilot. He told everyone he was going to work for Boeing but a sharp eyed pilot called him on his story. Why, because he was Canadian and was asked how we was going to work for a U.S. company as a foreign person.

A number of airlines have these "Boeing" pilot's flying for them. Spread the word and refuse to fly with them.

Let's all support the Real Boeing boys and girls.

Is there a difference between being a contract pilot to Boeing and being one to any other operator (eg Asian contract jobs)?
Are the Boeing pilots on strike or locked out or is there an IFALPA ban on recruitment?
Not trying to be provocative, just curious.

Boeing PSPs are usually taken on short term in a training capacity, I don't know any of my colleagues that have been approached for regular " line flying" jobs.

Boeing/CCL have been employing TRAINING pilots to work with customer airlines, at their home base, for at least twenty years, to my knowledge. If you are qualified and want to work and live in Korea and commute to your home base then you could probably get a job there. I did my entire B737-200 training with Boeing instructors, they even came out and did the line flying training too.

If you are selling cars, but the driving instructors you employ used to teach tank driving (or let me stroke some egos ... Formula 1), might you not try and hire some car driving instructors?

Boeing were responding to feedback from customers that they needed instructors who could teach how to operate the airplane, not how it operates in the circuit at Moses Lake.

Having met/flown with both "Boeing" pilot groups, I can tell you some are really professional and know their stuff. Some bull $hit their way through their first Atlantic crossing, or get stuck on taxiways in JFK, and have ZERO airline time.

@D&N - do the KAL pilots who are employed through CCL walk around saying "I'm a CCL pilot"? or do they more accurately say "I fly for Korean, but I'm paid by CCL"? I've met your ex-KA example. He's a gentleman, very humble and an extremely decent guy. Perhaps he's just proud to be associated with Boeing, rather than pretending to be something he's not?

It's utterly disingenuous to believe that the CCL pilots at Boeing are scabs - and I believe the ones flying at the OPs example operator would fully endorse the need for industry-standard Ts & Cs there.

Why, as a group of professionals, are we so intent on being playground bullies, or name callers?

Really, it's pathetic.

Fact is, there are not many good companies around anymore. Most of them are crap, but as a pilot you have to survive and make the best out of it, especially if you are over 40 already.

If below I would try to go into some of the few good "gigs" around, BA for instance, or LH(which seems to go south as well pretty soon, then you will be flying for one of their zillion low cost daughter companies).

Most of the good companies died over the last 15-16 years, the rest is what it is, the rest.

They did their homework, saved every penny on maintenance by streamlining fleets, by outsourcing pilots or just by enforcing bad contracts. Then all the pay 2 fly crap started and enough professional sons and daughters took the chance and let daddy pay for their dream.

We will not change that anymore. As a pilot nowadays, especially the older, experienced ones who don't want to change seat anymore in their older days, will just to have pull through, try to make the best out of the situation. Or change profession which is easy said and hard achieved, considering that todays lousy salaries as a capt are still much better what some normal employee or even medium management is earning.

We can just make sure OUR kids dont't try to do the same mistake and go into flying. At least don't become a pilot, become controller. Better controlled and better paid with much better lifestyle.

That's a fact. Boeing will not think twice to support a good customer with some of their pilots, really, someone had just one second a doubt about that?

I suspect the jobs are advertised somewhere, as they have of late hired Ryanair's Chief Sim Instructor and at least one of their TREs on to the 737 team.

I've seen Boeing advertise pilot positions twice in the last year on climbto350. It's possible to search that site by employer, so one could easily find the old job postings.
