RYR Learjet Pilot

Hi everybody ,

is anyone RyR learjet pilot , i would like to have more info about this department in RYR , seems to be very attractive as operation and lear45 is a really nice aircraft..

Thank you for help

A fleet of 1 and part of RYR. Don't sound attractive to me.

VJW 15th Feb 2016 17:03

Fleet of 3 mate ;)

Engineers must be expensive these days, as keeping a fleet of 3 Learjets ( & assumedly "some" crew even if a lot is SBY cover ) costs too.

Taking my cynical cap off, it is/was a novel solution to having engineering cover (to the quality you require) at 70+ bases, and no doubt saves a fortune on spares holding too.

Do RYR carry spare wheels in the hold these days, or is my memory failing me (not unlikely, but I remember someone I flew with used to routinely do so )

VJW 15th Feb 2016 20:28

Pretty sure they wouldn't do it unless it saved money somehow :)

captplaystation 15th Feb 2016 21:08

Yep, that is a given

Seems like a lot of fun and a pretty smart idea. But it does not look as though anyone is going to break cover and admit to being involved! One option would be that the flying is outsourced, due to the variability. But maybe it is part time and split with another job. It is the sort of thing that might just motivate me to get back behind a desk at least some of the time!

Recently advertise internally based in BGY or MAD with a Two year bond for type rating. Can't remember anything else but seems the pilots will come from within.

4Screwaircrew 16th Feb 2016 10:20

Working 6/3 early or late standby, returning to base and the 738 for the winter.

pudoc 16th Feb 2016 10:43

Fleet of 3, soon to be 6.

Last 2 posts are wrong.

Ref carrying spare wheels, when I was a flying spanner I once worked for a well known cargo outfit on the DC-8 (Thats was once owned by the US government) we carried a full compliment of AOG spares along with seals and gaskets and a small workshop.

I-AINC - 4Screwaircrew is not wrong. pudoc could be correct....

dirk85 16th Feb 2016 20:51

I tend to believe I-AINC, since he works there :}

Anyway, they were doing some assessments the last weeks, even for non type rated Captains as far as I know.

Then he did not read the memo correctly...

Hi mate, 4Screwaircrew said, before the edit, 5/3 for the roster, which can be nice but not correct :)

Same as pudoc, the correct number is not 6.

No controversy, just chat :ok:

From the engineering side of the operation, we have been told to plan for the heavy maintenance of 5 LearJets.
