Wage rise 2016
So, with airline profits on the increase and corporate management bonuses doing the same, how much of a wage increase have you received or expect up to April this year?
Many that I know are getting thoroughly peeved at the "times are hard and profits are wafer thin" BS that just gets spat out along with "you are happy to have a job"! Name and shame? Wage data and bonus data required. |
You should know by now that an increase in profits is no reason to expect a pay rise, however a reduction in profits or a loss is a valid reason for a pay cut.:E
|
I won't even mention a diversion in revenue into a subsidiary so to divert profit elsewhere.
Seem to remember being told Bmi fleet engines leased from SMB at an extortionate rate. Tech records, catering blah blah. Many ways to filter the profits away from sight |
Well, i wouldn't call it a profit, but apparently my airline is losing less than the 300+ million they did the years before that. Still, the union and the company are currently negotiating about pushing the already agreed upon 4% increase of this year into next year.
Oh, and the company didn't pay out the guaranteed overtime hours from last year either, up to over 18k€... |
Metro Man,
Why not? I'm sure all the executives are expecting healthy raises this year. |
And don't even start with the so called self-employed contractors who have X year fixed rate deals and no negotiating power. Last time I employed a contractor HE told ME what the job would cost, and then if there were any over-runs. We agreed and he got on with it. Next year rates went up, if inflation did. Some of the selfie contractors should look at where their rates were 10 years ago and where they are now versus inflation; remembering a jump at X year interval does not recover a lack of year on year inflation rise.
Happy days long gone. |
OK, I'm a miserable old git, but what has this got to do with Rumours and News?
|
Yeah fair point, I should have stuck elswhere.

Anyone in Big Airways' defined benefit pension schemes will be getting a substantial pay cut from April thanks to George Osborne and the greed of the 'Executives'.
|
TURIN : for people not in BA , can you explain what the big change is ?
|
Ten percent increase, awarded three months retroactively.
Bonus for 2014. was 15% net yearly pay. For 2015. we'll see around April. |
Big Change At Big Airways.
For your edification Barcli, The 2 final salary schemes (now closed to new entrants) were contracted out of SERPS. Thus lower rates of NI applied. With the new state pension regime both BA and the staff are required to pay more. In the legislation the government enabled employers to pass on their costs to the employee (in addition to the employee increase). It's around £100/month extra which equates to a significant pay cut!

@tubby that was a somewhat premature press release from the company. No deal has been signed yet and at the moment the company is breaking the law by witholding up to 16% of guaranteed pay. There will be quite a few lawsuits about that.
|
Airberlin TandCs were quite generous as I recall and I also guess they're not making a profit.
Superpilot, more like superatstatingtheobviouspilot BA pension has a high company contribution so compared with less than 5% at my place it still doesn't seem too bad. But I feel for you as the rules have changed. Anyone with some substantive numbers? |
Whats a pay rise???:E:E:E

... at the moment the company is breaking the law ... ... There will be quite a few lawsuits about that ... I wish all the AB emplyees the best outcome and good protection under the law. |
What's a Pension.....:confused: :{
