How old is too old for ryanair

Can someone please tell me how old is too old too join Ryanair as a first officer

i wouldn't recommend it to anyone above the age of TWELVE...

You would ideally be under 30 to allow sufficient working years to pay off your training debt before retiring at 65 . This is not a joke, im serious .

I was was promised an interview based on a good performance in the sim on an MCC course. It was cancelled when they found out I was 31, and "to old for their profile".

It's not about age, its about maturity. Play the game and be the clueless pilot all the way and you should be fine.
The problem is that if you have experienced other airlines and company, you will quickly realized how bad it is and that's probably why they want young pilot. Stay away...

Ageism alive and well
 

I have applied several times to the agency dealing with B737 rated FOs, and even applied directly to one of the senior managers (who forwarded my cv to the agency).

Net result...nothing, even though I have 5000hrs total and 2400 on the B737. I'm over 50 years old ( second career)

Unsubstantiated rumours would indicate that older applicants are at the bottom of the pile. However as there is overt ageism outside Europe ( think FlyDubai, Emirates, Etihad, Turkish) then at least RYR haven't officially closed the door.

All this crap about a pilot shortage ( especially experienced pilots?)...has yet to manifest in the elimination of ageist recruitment policies in the market.

oh there is a shortage, of well experienced guys IN THE LEFT SEAT....

Having seen it, I would suggest life is to short to bother with RYR - simples

Thanks for the feedback. I am just converting my EASA. Still need too pass those exams but suffice too say enough experience to join any airline anywhere in the world. Wide body and barrow body.

Wife is from Southern Europe and I don't care about a low cost. But if I do another stupid o clock departure then that is curtains. Time too relocate too the real world.

I see a few guys in my crew room training and they are well into their 30s and 40s.

I have met experienced F.Os joining in their 50s, these were people with in excess of 3000 hours on type.

30 is their cut-off point but you won't hear them say it publicly. It took me a few years of wondering why they were interviewing all my classmates but refused to talk to me. I finally got it confirmed verbally but that was strictly off the record.

Friend of mine got hired last year at 35...

I hear Transavia have open doors beyond the '2nd youth' threshold.

Fact is the success rate at interview/sim for any FO above 30 is less than half that of the pre-30 applicants.

So what?! If you need a job apply and have a good crack at it. Over 50% of all candidates fail at assessment.

Make sure your English is up to scratch, pay for a sim session, do some study and you're in with a chance. You're not going to get anything given to you. Get on and do some work!

another chap on rating was 33. Another friend of mine started 2 months before at 31.

At the interview there were a few of us over the age of 30 at interview.

I think the expansion plans are so great, they need all hands on deck at the moment.
