Flybe to operate for SAS

SAS signs agreement with Flybe - SAS

Does anyone know if Flybe are recruiting pilots for this new agreement with SAS and what the requirements are?

It is a white label agreement where Flybe will provide the crews and aircraft, however Crews will be recruited locally, but trained and managed under the current Flybe structure, they will not be 'purple pilots' as the top man likes to call us, but a separate entity.

Thank you for your quick reply. English is not my native language, what does white label mean? Can I submit my application via the Flybe website? Will they have their own salary and conditions or will they be following the UK contract? Do Flybe operate ATRs in the UK? I thought their turboprops were Q400s.

White label is essentially just a term they use to signify they are operating routes for another operator, possibly in Flybe colours but as with SAS, possibly not. The 4 ATR's will be painted as SAS with the intention that they will only operate those routes and the pilots recruited will be trained on the ATR and given there own, locally adjusted, terms and conditions. The initial management and technical team will be Flybe pilots, mostly ex-ATR rated guys and then once enough new people are trained the fleet will be operated exclusively by the local Scandanavian crew.

I'm not sure when recruitment will begin or who will conduct it, but with our own HR department currently unable to keep pace with the Dash recruitment needs I would not be surprised to see some external company take over that role. If operations are to begin in October I would be expecting type rating courses in Aug/Sept maybe.

Thanks again. I will submit my CV to Flybe with a covering letter specifying my interest in the SAS base. I am rated on the ATR which may help.

I saw the terms and conditions for Captains, once you pay Swedish taxes you will have a very modest salary, especially by Scandinavia standards. If you factor in accommodation and living expenses, your modest salary will disappear very fast. On the up side you would be working and living in a very pleasant and civilised country. It's not for me, but then I am no fan of the ATR, otherwise I might think about it :)

Not sure how it works in Sweden, in the UK I would not consider to apply. You end up in an umbrella company, paying employers and employees social contributions, they lie from the first day, contractors do not even get the chance to buy ID tickets. Commuting with full fare tickets you end up at pay2fly and they cut your salary for every reason as the contract allows them to do.

Recruitment has already taken place and positions have been filled.

I submitted an application but have been told the recruitment is complete for the first two aircraft that are starting operating in October. More recruitment will take place for the next two aircraft that are to start 6 months later.
