Are ryanair pilots really Voting?
 

hello all,
just had to post this as i find it positive rumour..........has the proccess begun in ryanair land and the pilots are taking their future in their hands? if so.. all i can say is well done to all involved.

Yes, this is true.

Ballot opened today but we expect a series of ballots and the outcome of each ballot will determine the next ballot. The current ballot is basically "is the current representative system working?"

RYR Pilot Group : any pilot in Ryanair whose not aware of this site, please sign up, your vote counts for your future.

REPA never quite achieved what it should have, IALPA were in the good direction, BALPA were lame. . . hopefully this may go a LOT further.

For your sakes (and the rest of us forced by our respective employers to "emulate" your success :hmm: ) I cross my fingers that your progress is both rapid & substantial.

There really is no excuse not to vote guys.

As previously mentioned, IALPA definitely know how to deal with FR a lot better. I think BALPA massively underestimated their opponent last time around.

thats excellent news, i think it is sad that a modern day employer cannot treat treat their staff well. unions were need badly in the past due to the bad working conditions for employees but in a modern world and a fair and moral society they should not be needed.

I had 6 years of it, and like everyone who was there I realised that leaving the company would not result in an escape from "the culture" :=

Ryanair have been responsible for totally annihilating the T's&C's of all of us for 10 years now. . why ? well, simply summarised, they are such a big player in Europe that everyone has to compete with them , and every cheapskate accountant/management pilot either tries to emulate or (god forbid :eek: ) outdo them. My current employer is well on the way to joining the rush to the bottom. . . the fact that many of our current pilot management are ex RYR may just be an unhappy coincidence, but. . . .


Nothing derogatory in my postings towards RYR (who I still use regularly as a pax due my geographical needs twixt base & home) but, I never in the distant past resented BA (as I always said, they set a nice high benchmark for us to demand during negotiations) therefore I am more than happy to justify simultaneously deploring RYR, whilst cheering their pilots on towards any amelioration they can achieve in their current woeful T's & C's.

Where you go the "rest of us" are forced to follow. . .nothing derogatory in that remark methinks, just a simple statement of fact.

Most Ryanair pilots vote with their feet at the first available opportunity !. Witness the 'experience exodus' recently and now the inspired one is getting rid of the few high time FO's that had the balls to say " I don't want the LHS just now Thank you "

....and shortly we will get the " thanks for your efforts " memo ...the same one is trotted out annually ...at least easy got some plonk :ok:

FO's at the end of their 5 year contract are not being renewed. Ryanair/Brookfield haven't given a reason for this.

Ryanair pilots have for years buried their heads in the sand whilst their terms and conditions disappear before them. In recent times they had their chance with BALPA and blew it. Now it sounds like someone else is coming alongside to rescue the sinking ship. Will the pilots accept the offer of pumps to bail them out or will they prefer to watch the water pour in and make the ship to the bottom of the ocean? The tragedy is that if the union offer is not accepted then the pilots will still not see the truth of why they have become the kicking boys of Europe. I just hope they grab this opportunity with both hands - there may not be too many opportunities like this again in the future.

ADM, you clearly know little about the BALPA led campaign within FR a number of years ago, or you possibly choose to grab distorted facts from a union representative from the time. It was quite frankly a disaster and completely underestimated what the challenge actually was. You can't point the stick solely at the pilots on that one. What's on offer now bares no resemblance to it.

Stop comparing BALPA campaigns in EZY to those in FR. Oranges to apples without the pun intended. BALPA didn't have a snowcones chance in hell fighting FR alone. For one, BALPA barely touched on the contractor issue, which is huge in Ryanair; around a 3:1 ratio. Secondly it hadn't a :mad: clue what to do for contingency when the management started playing games with potential base closures, upgrade and transfer freezes and roster pattern distruption. It wasn't tackling the real issues that management were able to effortlessly hide behind.

Callsign Kilo has it, back in 2006/7 IALPA wanted along with BALPA to go for a recognition vote. Support for this was as high as it had ever been, with much of that due to the initial success of REPA.
The head honcho at that time in BALPA dithered & said he couldn't countenance making that move until BALPA had appointed a full time officer to deal specifically with Ryanair. They proceeeded to advertise the post & offered (I was told) a somewhat derisory 6mth contract.

I think the basic fact of the matter is that BALPA did NOT underestimate the size of the challenge,rather, they basically didn't have the b@lls to tackle it.

Filed under "nasty boys/too difficult" . . . . . much better to concentrate on these nice chaps up at waterworld :ugh:

Yep we are !
Now revealed a majority of ryr pilots voted, and of those 99% rejected the current form if representation. Vote 2 wished for the new form of representation and same results! The support of ECA, and whoever else behind the scenes is great & a world away form previous effort.
It just seems we need to watch for the response after the Monday morning meeeting!

And the present one will probably 'remain neutral'.

If this is the guys in RYR getting together and starting the path to common sense employment, then good luck to you. I hope you succeed!

Any current pilot operating or in training (pre or post type rating) for Ryanair is eligible to vote. It's your future.

Monday morning meeting
 

Most likely something in the line of "we do not recognise these results due to bla bla bla..."

There is still a lot of work to be done but this is a huge step in the right direction. Hopefully everyone can now clearly see that the ones trying to make a difference are not an isolated bunch of loners but in fact the majority.
