Can anyone please tell me what the current situation is at Easyjet, are they currently hiring?

Sorry Paul, all recruitment is complete. They are now trying to work out how many temp staff they need to keep on for the winter period. You're better off trying to get a secured contract elsewhere IMHO.

Any chance through flexi crew for winter in your opinion mate?

No chance this winter. The last 2 CTC courses we taken on the understanding they are there for 8 months only. Not enough flying to go around this winter. Management aren't interested in permenant contracts either.

Suggest you read the last 3-4 pages of the Monarch thread. There are reasons why current Easyjet pilots have been leaving for Monarch... Educate yourself.

According to pjn, easy is going to expand this winter in France with more aircrafts to be added in different bases and is looking to Italy as well. Easy Swiss is going to get more aircrafts from MAD. Now all this might be covered by the MAD crew? :(

I believe that "local" expansion will be using aircraft already elsewhere in the network.

Not expansion, it is a redistribution of assets. LPL will be losing 3 aircraft and the MAD fleet will go elsewhere. To get a feel for how EZY are operating take a look at this presentation. Slide 7 mentions the LPL downsize.

EJ pilots are heading out big time. There are loads of guys in the holding pool for Emirates and a load more with an eye on Monarch / Ethiad / Norwegian etc. Don't go there unless you have no other option.

What is happening to the crew from the 3 LPL aircraft? Are they being forced into a MAN basing or made redundant?

Contract pilots and those inexperienced ones ( without offending I hope - those with 4000 hrs or so less ) will always look to be moving on. Those who are on old contracts are either well within the command process or happily living in a base of choice.

Cadets and contract pilots will always look to move on however as a result of this they erode their own T&C. What do you expect when there are dispatchers and checkin staff holding ATPL,s and 250 ish hours willing to do anything to get a job. So these poor :mad: have no other choice with the limited offers out there.

Only 2 jets going from LPL. They're not coming back either for summer '13.

No forced pilot transfers or redundancies for permanents - FlexiCrew may well be a different story.

Your view of the people who are leaving EZY is not quite accurate. I myself was on an 'old' contract and gave up a command when I left just under two years ago. I have many friends who were in the same position and also left. EZY was a good company and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, but with the way it was heading unfortunately it was time to move on.

Having been with the orange bunch for over 10 years I have seen people come and go. However what I would say is that those of us on old " proper" contracts be they FO,s or Skippers tend to be happy with their lot. Thus there was very limited movement. Those that have left left for the following reasons mostly

1. Get long haul out of the system.
2. Return to country of origin.
3. To join a " legacy " Carrier.

The issue with your post is -

In most cases there is no option and that I am afraid is down to the aspiring pilots of today. You have ATPL holders working in check in, as baggage handlers, as cabin crew and as dispatchers all throwing out CV,s in the vain hope of getting noticed.

These people would sell their sisters and prostitute their own terms and conditions to get into the right hand seat.

You can hardly blame management for cutting costs when people are willing to accept cadetships and flexi contracts which are less well financially rewarding. If they did otherwise they would be remiss. It is the law of supply and demand.

Mr Mugabe,

You are very quick to blame aspiring pilots for the demise of EZY T&C's but I think if you reflect a little it is quite plain that the real issue is the current company pilots such as yourself who refuse to see EZY through anything but very rose tinted spectacles. You sit there and are very quick to point the finger of blame on people who are not yet employed and have no way to influence current company T&C's. It is people like you who sit back and take everything the company has to through at you and then thank them for it who are squarely to blame for the current state of play at EZY. You are apologetic for the managers greed and are happy to accept poor pay reviews despite the company making a healthy profit year after year. People such as yourself have made EZY (which is, as I said is a place I enjoyed working) no longer a viable long term employer for most pilots.

I agree with you.

Blaming Newbies at Easy for how things are is akin to placing the blame on students leaving Uni / Higher education who are looking for their first jobs for the state of the economy!! Of course they are not in a position to influence things and neither are new entrants into aviation.

The ones with the power are the longer serving permanent contract UK pilots at Easy who are happy to sit back and see there newer colleagues suffer.

I wonder if management suggested a 15% pay cut for all those permanent UK contract pilots due to only making £280-£300m and the monies saved would be used to increase T&C for new joiners whether they'd then sit up and do something! :E Oh i think they would....:ugh:

I guess you left for altruistic reasons then and not for personal gain. I stay with easyJet for selfish reasons.

1. 15% bonus.
2. £100 000 + salary.
3. Base of Choice.

Lets get it straight. I work to live not live to work. I have never attended an easyjet party and I dont socialise with anyone I work with. I also like the vast majority of people I work with. I am also acutely aware that easyJet will not miss me when I have gone. I also refuse to take one for the team with regard to fellow pilots accepting lower terms and conditions.

Next you will be singing me Kumbaya with its original association with human and spiritual unity, closeness and compassion.

I on the other hand would sing it to you in a satirical or cynical way which would alude to your false moralising , hypocrisy, or naively optimistic views of the world and human nature.:D

Yep, and then you selfishly blame the new guys for the demise of the T&C's when you've been sitting on your lazy selfish ass for 10 years on your old contract doing nothing for new joiners! :D
