OLT

whats happening at OLT Poland, pilots have not been paid for last month yet. Company giving lame excuses and saying they might get paid by Friday. Don't hold you breath.
Beginning of the end?
0 to 15 aircraft in one year and back to 0 again, might be a record.

Aussie 13th Jul 2012 08:52

Yeah yeah, aircraft are going back to the leasing company, pilots all jobless, no money, end of the airline... :D:D:ugh::cool::{

LLuCCiFeR 13th Jul 2012 09:04

Their website is still working normally at the moment: OLT Express - Fly high with OLT Express. Domestic flights across Poland. The airline tickets available from 24,99 EUR.

Aussie 14th Jul 2012 18:47

Thats because everything is still functioning normally, some have just jumped the gun.... it is a rumour network after all... :)

whiskey_on_board 17th Jul 2012 06:34

Any more latest news/rumours? :E
Looking forward to hear more on OLT!

Shingles 17th Jul 2012 09:27

So it seems like the **** is about to hit the fan at OLT. As I mentioned elsewhere on pprune last week, a blog post at Insidetraveller - Amber Gold and its airlines - has a pretty thorough dishing of the owners, which should give some pause for thought.

Aussie 18th Jul 2012 22:27

All going well for now. Stories of the likes that you mention have been around since day 1 of OLT Expres... Nothing new :ok:

steelhammer 19th Jul 2012 14:15

I'd like to think so, for the sake of preserving and increasing pilot job opportunities in the very slow European job market, but if there was zero truth and substance to any of these stories surely we would not be reading and hearing about it now and again.

These articles don't pop up for no good reason. There must be some sort of suspicions about the company and their survival since we are reading about it from various independent sources.

FougaMagister 19th Jul 2012 17:19

So you believe the argument that "there is no smoke without fire"? I would rather take the article you referred to with a pinch of salt. It was, after all, long on innuendo but very short on details. I for one, welcome the extra competition and wish OLT good luck.

As for Amber Gold's management having no previous experience of the airline business, there are countless similar examples - and not all of them end up in failure; I seem to recall a music industry executive with no previous aviation credentials setting up a long-haul airline in the UK back in 1984, with many question marks hanging on the future of his outfit... What was his name again? Oh yes - Richard Branson. Enough said.

Cheers

I don't think Branson was ever suspected of being a Bernie Madoff-style businessman.

Aussie 20th Jul 2012 15:45

Time will tell boys and girls... for the sake of jobs in the industry and the travelling public, lets hope OLT sticks it out. If it doesnt, the market is there and a new player will come in to take it... Supply vs Demand... Simple really :}

TBSC 25th Jul 2012 16:03

According to news reports OLT will axe 8 polish domestic routes as of 11AUG and return all ATRs to lessor. The last two was just delivered this month... :ooh:

News - ch-aviation.ch

TBSC 26th Jul 2012 13:07

Their website says they cancel all ATR flights as of today. They stopped serving catering as well. Polish CAA stated that the AOC of the company will be suspended if they do not submit an audited financial report by the end of July.

TBSC 26th Jul 2012 13:38

Things seem to speed up...
5 ATRs are already already being ferried back to lessor.

STN Ramp Rat 26th Jul 2012 21:04

The end !!

It seems all flight operations and ticket sales are suspended so I think thats the end.

very sad for all staff

RockShock 26th Jul 2012 21:08

All scheduled flights suspended from tomorrow

Website seems to be down, info in Polish here: OLT Express zawiesza wszystkie loty | ekonomia24.pl

In short: all scheduled flights suspended until stated otherwise, ticket sales stopped. Apparently they have some potential investors but nothing will be known for at least six weeks...

Damn, they seemed to be revolutionary on the market, but seems something went really wrong...

harriewillem 27th Jul 2012 08:39

No Surprise

Flying with 4 J32's and an 1 ATR42, one year ago... Investors money... buying 3 struggling airlines combine to one... fleet with many different types, not efficient.... Load factors total crap, ticket prices so low ....

No Surprise... people involved, yes sad....

beached 28th Jul 2012 10:45

Reports of OLT's death have been exaggerated.

There is a little more information emerging. OLT REGIONAL has sadly been declared bankrupt, ie the ATR's. The A320 arm - OLT EXPRESS is still operating, doing ACMI and charter flights. There is a very optimistic mood in the office that OLT EXPRESS can be quickly reconfigured to operate independently of parent company funding.

A little over optimistic, it seems that they packed up yesterday and the aircraft were all returned to the leasing company. I think this leaves OLT Germany as the only bit left.

whiskey_on_board 31st Jul 2012 07:37

Dear Beached,

With all due respect, and as much I hoped for OLT's success... you can not be serious :E

Fly safe!

Airbus_a321

OLT started from 0 a/c in April 2011 to 11 Airbus up to date, acc airfleets.net, + 2 ATR = 13 aircraft.
All this expansion during a global economical downturn and in a market with very tough competition and really low charter rates....on top: not the "creme de la creme" management in this aircraft operating company (intentionally I do not say "airline")...........
For me it smells like in a very big laundry
Good luck for all the employees involved.

All going well for now. Stories of the likes that you mention have been around since day 1 of OLT Expres... Nothing new

In total 11 aircrafts. Surprised ?:=
Not me - see above. This scenario waits to happen.

Thats because everything is still functioning normally, some have just jumped the gun.... it is a rumour network after all...
...really RUMOURS. Maybe you should put down your pinkpanther glasses.
Welcome to the real world world in aviation. The bubble has burst. Not really surprising for me.

FougaMagister 31st Jul 2012 12:58

LOT and EuroLOT must be breathing a sigh of relief... They don't need to do a market study now; just to go over OLT Express' load factors route by route and add the best-performing ones to their own (expanding) network!

Cheers

whiskey_on_board 31st Jul 2012 13:31

Is it correct that Emirates will operate from WAW?
If that is correct I am affraid LOT could be next to go bust (this time completely:rolleyes:)

FougaMagister 31st Jul 2012 14:27

Of course, LOT is in need of a cash injection - or takeover (best would be by Lufthansa)...

That said, why would LOT go bust just because EK added DXB-WAW to their network? The only long-haul LOT route that could be impacted would be WAW-PEK, where some PAX may decide to fly to Beijing via Dubai (although the trip is much longer). Can't see US or Canada-bound passengers prefering to go there via Dubai than direct from WAW... The rest of LOT's network is short-haul within Europe - not really something where EK can compete.

Cheers

B767PL 31st Jul 2012 14:59

So OLT have completely closed shop.

Can't say it is surprising given all the reports/articles/analysis that have been floating around for the past month or so..

LOT for sure can breath easier and raise prices on certain routes to where they are at least breaking even, rather then losing money to compete with ridiculously low OLT prices.

Aussie 2nd Aug 2012 08:10

OLT Express Airbus operation is still running. CAA Audit passed couple days ago, AOC still active. No bankrupcy delacred yet and employees have not been fired. Yeah there is no aircraft at the moment, but watch for a rebirth with a rebrand.

Cheers.
