VIRGIN INTERVIEW

Hi, seems I got lucky this time and have been invited for interview. Has anyone got some up-to-date info about the form this take? Plus any suggested sites, resources or references would be appreciated.

I have done a search on here, but everything seems to relate to the last big recruitment drive a few years ago.

Thanks in advance.:ok:

Hi there, just out of curiosity what experience do you have and type you fly please? And also forgot to say best of luck!!

VJW 23rd Jun 2012 02:15

I KNEW the first reply would be asking the above!

I'm sorry I can't answer the question either, I applied with minimum hours so didn't expect a call. Very best of luck BACP....

First of all, congratulations!

Mate of mine got through the last time, and he's starting in Sept on the 744 :D He's got about 4,500 TT with 1,000 PIC 738. No prizes for guessing his current airline :ok:

You'll be pleased to hear that it's pretty 'old school' interview, just a get to know YOU. Are you the sort of guy/girl we'd like to sit alongside for 14 hours etc. Believe it's with HR and a Pilot.

Best of luck!

thnaks for the replies. I'm about the same qualification as above but quite a lot older, so I haven't done an interview for years. Tea, Bikkies and a chat was the order of the day when I joined my last airline.
Anyone know what an OPQ SHL test is?????

That sounds like a refreshing process, tea and a chat and no psychobabble!

I went through the process last June and was successful.

Don't go and blow it by being too relaxed, but I can honestly say that the interview was very pleasant, and it felt as though I had succeeded on the basis of my CV, and they were really just checking the accuracy of some of the details.

There was a quick 25min aptitude test. This consisted of 4 pictures showing some sort of progression, and you had to multi-choice the 5th one. For example the progression might be: one white dot, two black dots, three white dots, four black dots....and the winner is....five white dots....!

As for the interview, I was given 10 mins before I went in to read about a scenario involving being stranded with my crew by an earthquake in San Fran. What would you do? I just embellished the old Protection, Location, Water, Food adage, with a few extra cuddles to keep the crew warm (did I say that out loud?!)

The interview was conducted by a lady from Flt Ops, the HR manager, and the Boeing fleet manager. They were all very friendly.

There were no nasty tech questions, but being less formal than some other airlines' interviews, I'm sure they will/could tailor their questions towards the areas that you may appear weak in on your CV. Be prepared for all the usual:

Why Virgin? What do you like about the company? Would you mind being stuck on the old 747, compared to the shiny new airbus? And be prepared with a couple of questions to ask them.

I downloaded and printed off the wiki entry for Virgin, and googled some news stories for stuff that had happened recently, and that was enough.

But congratulations on getting through to the interview. You're almost there, just wear a nice suit, polish your shoes, brush you hair, turn up in good time, smile a lot and be friendly with everyone you meet. Easy eh?!

Actually I think you'll find it's a 3 on 1 interview and one person is into 'psycobabble' but as stated above it's a very relaxed affair.

Mate,
you'll never know what is going through their minds.I've had interviews that I thought went badly but I passed, and what i thought was good was bad.

Don't second guess them, try and be yourself.

"what are your strengths and weaknesses ?"

"my only weakness is being a pathological liar "

"and your strengths ?"

" I'm batman......"

Thanks for the posts on this. I got an email from them to do the OPQ SHL test online before coming for the interview. A quick Google shows its some variety of Personality Test, so probably no correct answer, but if you are a stable extrovert, so much the better!
